| Sorry John if i came off a little bit hostile. I am so used to the constant bickering and arguing over on 4 cycle about what is better an animal or clone or a lo206 or a clone. I think I misunderstood what you were saying but like i said earlier its all about racing regardless of what engine you run. |

No offense taken
I know exactly what you mean. The truth is there isn't a "better" engine, only better choices for individuals and clubs. More karts on track is a good thing no matter what, I wouldn't care if they were powered by outboard motors as long as people are having fun and being safe

I did not read all the posts in here, soI hope I didnt miss this part. I was asking about this exact situation yesterday. The problem as I see it is that the only track in the near area that allows the Billit flywheel is Rt 61 Kartway. Midstate is stock flywheel and so is Norway. So we cant go to 61 and they cant race here with theirs. According to a very good source I know in Springfield, WKA DOES NOT REQUIRE the billit flywheel. So although I understand the reason behind it, It is not widespread or even common yet. And as for experience with this situation... Years back we ran 5 HP Flathead Briggs modified to the Max and we ran 3 hp flywheels on them. They also came apart occasionally and it was a mess. But then again, we were turning the motors twice the recommended RPMs. If you ran a 5 hp flywheel on them due to its larger size, they lasted about 5 laps max ! It is sort of a situation as I see it, but smarter minds will prevail and we WILL pay more to race (AGAIN) _________________ Racing is a State of Mind ! ... A very nice state to be in ! |

Race and economic (cheap) is an oxymoron, it always was. We all have to pay to play. |

If the Flywheel wasnt enough, the three tracks I have near me to race the clone (Rt 61, Norway and MidState) all have different requirements for the exhaust ! Norway is specific with both header and Silencer, Mid State Says any single stage exhaust and a certain Silencer and Rt 61 says any Commercially available exhaust with a certain Silencer ! I bought the Billit Flywheel because I can remove and reinstall it at different tracks, thats ok, But 3 Different headers to compete ! Now I have been told that I can use the smaller header from Norway at all 3 places, but can I keep up with it ? Anyway, just thought I would throw a bit more Sunoco 110 on the fire ! Oh wait, did I tell you I bought a Stinger clutch because I was told I could use it at Mid State ? Too bad I cant run it anywhere else ! Now its hard to find anywhere to use them if you race clone ! _________________ Racing is a State of Mind ! ... A very nice state to be in ! |

I bought a clutch today that I think will work well and not to expensive. Going to just run the smaller exhaust and keep the motor stock and have fun ! At least I can get on the track ! _________________ Racing is a State of Mind ! ... A very nice state to be in ! |

If your set-up and driving are better you'll probably beat them anyway

The single header is not gonna hurt you at springfield, The fact that you havnt been to a Midstate race yet is why you cant win in a clone there! |

Very Funny Tim ! LOL We are trying to get to the tracks nearby that run the clones. It seems like a lot of fun to run these things and they certainly are not near as expensive to run a Can or a Tag for sure. Oh by the way, I cant run at Mid State until they start the Sat night schedule each year cause I work Sunday nights _________________ Racing is a State of Mind ! ... A very nice state to be in ! |

| Well I was half right, AKRA is now adopting the change in flywheel (you cant get one and people will be racing without them half way through the season) I call the rod and predator next years rule change |

I have made several dyno pulls over 8300 RPM with the stock cast rods and have not seen a failure....yet. Actually impressed with the little rod. I won't use it in my modified engines though. On the stock cast iron flywheel, I don't like even looking at them. I would not compete or even be in attendance at any track that allows them. You may as well take your chances skinny dipping in shark infested waters. _________________ Began kart racing 1959. Made many friends along the way. |

Wha t makes you think the billet china flywheel is better? I rather use the American aluminum. |

I totally agree. The "billet rod, forged piston and billet flywheel," is the only way I like to build these engines.
And to tell the truth, I would rather be building the Briggs Animal engines. It's just that these clones are walking in the door and the people are willing to pay for my groceries, etc if I pull more hp from them. That's my job. _________________ Began kart racing 1959. I just got an ARC aluminum FW for my blue clone, racing is already under way at our track and I couldn't wait. Plus our sanctioning allows either so the aluminum is a no brainer with the extra fat I have to push around. _________________ 03 Italkart Supersonic V
