On the WKA web page, you can find the following information regarding the WKA 2002 Road Racing Series;

1. 2002 Road Race Class Structure
2. The Saturday - Sunday 2 Day race schedule
3. The Daytona Entry blank and 3 Day Race Schedule.

It's on the WKA website, click on the FastLinks menu and
pull down to "2002 NRRS Info". This way, you can see what's
available for the regular season - which will help you determine your Daytona participation.

Thanks for the heads up. However, I'd like to suggest the following tweaks to the shifter rules if at all possible:
1. Can we PLEASE ditch those ridiculous airboxes, and instead have a noise level spec?
2. In the CIK 125 classes, I'd suggest working the word "homologated" somewhere into the bodywork description. This will prevent controversy, for example, by some of those huge steering fairings which come with some karts.
3. I see that CIK sidepods are specified. What is the thinking about similar, but non-CIK sidepods, like the Gearbox Velocity pods?

Good thoughts/suggestions. I will check with the committe.
Airboxes....sigh... without them, we have to go around with sound meters at every track ... and YES - there are some "regular" enduro karts that are even louder....

I agree wiht sean

Why is this one class singled out for airboxes??? 125 Gearbox runs the same engines, but they don't use them. What about the 250 singles? They don't use them. Not a very logical requirement unless you are going to require it for all karts running the same type of engine.

ALso agree on the bodywork. Sprint rules call for CIK bodywork. THe fairing is part of the bodywork. Because of the # of noses out their in use that are not CIK stamped or approved ( like ours), you better be very specific on this one.

BTW, any chances of following the AMA and allowing 400cc 4-stroke singles in the 250 class?

Just a thought, Maybe it's because there are so many on the track at the same time??

with the unifed set of rules for the world superkart cahllange for ICe and F/E classes, there is an ICe4 class which includes 250 4 strokes.. the final version of the rules is being completed..

Probably no chance of running 400cc four strokes in 2002. The rules and classes are set and the tech manual is aleady headed to the printer. However, if you have a suggestion for the 2003 season, let anyone on the WKA National Road Race Series committee know about it. Also, the NRRS committee plans to do another member survey in the spring of 2002. That would also be a good place to make your suggestions known.

The NRRS committee had a copy of the proposed rules for the ICe and F/e Classes, as did many other local enduro clubs as well as other orgs. The mid-west clubs are considering the rules for next year. this is what the approved engines are.. there are other items related to the four strokes..

100.2 Approved engines for 250 IC/E, IC-4, & IC/4 Ltd: Production based 250cc (max) displacement, single cylinder two-cycle engines, water or air cooled; and production based single cylinder, four cycle engines of up to 500cc displacement. Currently approved engines are as follows: 250 IC/E, Honda CR 250, Honda 4TRX 250R, Kawasaki KX 250, Rotax 257, Suzuki RM 250, TM 250, Yamaha YZ 250. IC/4 & IC/4 Ltd : Honda 450 CRF, Cannondale 432, Suzuki 400, Yamaha 400 & 426F.
