Any words on the weekend and how everything went?

I wanted to go but couldn't make it. Need school books.

Dave,

Haven't you figured out that you don't need to buy those? Oh, I think you have a more challenging course of study than I had, nevermind.

Hey, it was a good weekend. Everything was shortened both days because of the threat of rain. Overall it was a good weekend though.

Scott,

Are you related to Michael Davis that runs Enduros from Ohio?

It was a fun weekend. Not having any Saturday practice for all of us who had never been there hurt a little. A couple of short Saturday AM sessions makes it hard to get up to speed with those for whom it is a home track. Did have some confusion over the 125 rules, as the other DMSS guys didn't realize the rules were different. Not regular 'net surfers and got the handout at the gate!. So not sure just how that is all going to play out. Was told they'd run there rules for there points and we'd run our rules for our points. WIll see.

Seemed to be some good racing. Lotsa interest in the team races. Ted and Lawrence McKinney borrowed a can kart and were going to run the team race together. THey were both really getting into it. On the grid, there must have been 30 or more karts lined up for the team race! We all stood by the karts facing to the east waiting for the driver's meeting to get over when all of a sudden the drivers turned and broke out into sprint towards their karts....funny thing was that many of them just kept right on going..past the karts , over the wall and disappearing into the mass of trailers in the pit! We were just standing there looking at each other, like , what the *h*? Then somebody yelled it absolutely pouring on the backside of the track and coming this way. That sent everybody scurring for karts, kart covers, grabbing starters, etc. It just poured for quite a while and them slowed to a persisten steady rain for the rest of the evening. Rats! no team race. The "potluck" was also a victim of the foul weather. We were pitted with Art McKinney and the McCollums and they did everything to make us feel right at home, West Virginia style....the crammed about 20 of us into JOe's trailer and broke out the refreshments!
Somebody said about 20 people of various ages and relations crammed into a trailer consumning "beverages" was just another typical WV Saturday night!

Stopped by SUnday to just pick up the kart as our race was originally late in the day, only to find out that it had gotten moved up to the 3rd race. So decided to unload and get it ready and race again as long as we were there.

Had a great time, everyone was friendly and helpful, especially Dr. Otis. NOw all we got to do is get some of them to come up this way for a race. We can break out some of the highclass Michigan wines for them...you know, the kind that you actually need a corkscrew to open!

BTW, 125 sprinters...you really need some bodywork at Summit!

Charlie,
You sure about that? You guys did pretty good with just a CIK nose! It was good to see you guys at Summit. Fortunately, only 1 person hit the straw bales!

Scott,

No I am not related to Michael Davis Jr. I am also from Ohio and ran against Davis Jr. when he was a junior driver a few years ago and I talk with him frequently, but nope, no relation.
