Anyone posting? Suggested sites for info? All my info is coming from my driver, which I don't hate, but you always got to filter what your driver tells you, especially on practice days

Well, I suspect most of the participants were just plain to busy to take the time to make any internet posts. It was a LONG five days, Saturday's racing didn't end until after 8:00pm, and I think it was around 10:00pm when we were done with awards presentations. I don't have the results, although I'll relay a few that I can recall off the top of my head. The Hegars took home a couple more Duffy's, Tyler Bureau took home three, Ray Bobo finally took home a Duffy, Chris Knight used a sit-up shifter to walk away from the 125 gearbox laydown field in the rain, and the big controversy came in ICE where it turned out a good share of the class was running illegal engines.

Overall entries were good (I'm guessing close to 400 total entries), but there was a severe shortage of entries in the two Junior classes (which does not bode well for the future of road race).

The weather was perfect for the two practice days and the first day of racing (Friday), but a front moved in late Friday and it rained heavily that night. The track was pretty much dry for the start of practice on Saturday, but it started raining again towards the end of practice. However the rain stopped and the first race (100cc Controlled Light) went off on a rapidly drying track with all the competitors on slicks (which made for a very interesting first lap when we suddenly discovered turn seven to still be be quite wet). The rest of Saturday's races were dry. Sunday looked like we might luck out on weather, but it started raining as we gridded the next to last race (125 gearbox laydown) and the last two races were run in the rain.

There was only one red flag all week, during the Unlimited race. Gary Peterson apparently had something break on the left front as he was braking for turn one, causing his kart to spin into the outside wall. Fortunately Gary was able to walk away (and even started me in the 125 gearbox race later that day) although his beautiful kart was badly damaged.

Chris and Ryan Hegar where presented the Jim Clark memorial award and Craig Hargiss won the Troy Ruttman award for the "Best Engineered Kart". I was official inducted as an honorary Canadian by Camp Canada (although I don't remember much of the induction except that it involved the consumption of large quanities of alcoholic beverages and a killer hangover the next day).

!!!!!!!BIG TIME CONGRATS TO SCOTTY!!!!!!! KT LIGHT?: I'm betting he made weight pretty easy too! Scotty always jokes about his "tired dog" motors, but he makes em' run.

The most fun I ever had at a Kart race was in KT Hvy at the (97/98?) RR GN's at BWillow. Ran most of my race with Scotty....great to run wheel to wheel with. The officals told us NO bump drafting..but every chance Scotty got he would reach back and slap the back of his helmet. Hit me! I would slam him HARD and he would just give me the thumbs up! I stuck my motor, Scotty finished 2nd, and it was the most fun I ever had in a race. Every time I look at my old laydown, with all those holes bashed in the nose I remember that race and rooting for Scotty to catch Zeitler.

So Congrats Scotty....long overdue.

Another interesting outcome I should share: The hour long races are often marked by heavy attrition, but 125/150 Open was a severe case. Both the Hegars dropped out early with engine problems, I dropped out with a fuel feed problem, Don Bootes hit the turn 9 wall while battleing with Jeff Bevan for the lead, etc. etc. etc. Well, after about 45 minutes of this, there were only two karts left on the track - Jeff Bevan leading easily in his TM Formula C powered laydown, and Jeff Edwards driving a Rotax Max sit-up! That's the way it finally ended - Jeff Bevan winning, Jeff Edwards and his Max in second (admittedly six laps down). First time I've ever seen a Rotax Max at a road race!

Now maybe we can get those Rotax Max guys out to the road race track - after all they can't complain that they won't be competitive .

Hey Tim,

As a member of Camp Canada myself, at least you didn't admit to getting married next week! The five worst words around those guys; "I'm getting married next week!"

Seriously, I had a great time and I hope others did as well.

AND DAMN that CAMP CANADA!!!

They took home the prestigious "Best Appearing Pit Crew" Competition. I think it was that Margarita Bar that influenced the judges!!

Kyle Driver with her HULA Hut took 2nd, after the crazy Canadians moved her entire pit from one area to another, after VIOLATING the poor hula girl by placing a canadian maple leaf on her navel!

My team took 3rd with our Laker theme... next time I need to have refreshing beverages and twinkle lights around! Guess dressing the dog up in Laker regalia didn't quite cut it!

Congrats to the Chris and Ryan Hegar who won the Jim Clark Memorial award for thier contributions to the sport of karting.

I can't remember the man's name who won the Troy Ruttman, he was thin with a curly handlebar moustache... had a 125 laydown kart that had super cool, innovative detail in the bodywork. Bet Tim D. will remember his name!

Had a great time in Portland, our team didn't take home another Duffy, but we got more than our share of other trophies so I guess we can't complain too loudly.

Thanks for the hospitality!
