I love it!! The 1st really good idea to level the field that I have heard, you win we will add weight

Rewards weight does work. Having worked with rewards weight system in the World Challenge series a few things need to be considered.
I would suggest a 5% cap
All rewards weight needs to be added in a specified location(s)
The need for a system for the weight to come off when finishing lower than 4th as an example.

We have a claim rule with SKC also. Last race of the year someone claimed the winners motor. He started laughing as he had run the same motor for 2 years and this was its last race. Believe he was going to return it to Harbor Freigth and get a new one.

The Engine and Crank was made in China, it was never sent to be Micro Blue like you guys dis Said.
i talked to some motor builders and they say that there is about 7 differnt Cranks, Cams, Fly wheels etc, etc, etc.
tha is why they recomended if you want to run 4 cycle to run

5.-About you Guys Removing my Daughter points and Track Records
From the Club, after 3 Races.

Arturo (or Armavy) Marquez, you forgot to mention when I claimed your engine you said "Yaani-Mai I had that engine shipped from California. It cost me $1,000. Why would I sell it to you for $160?".

You also forgot to mention that your engine was shipped off to be teched & had a micro blued crank & lapped piston rings. I was curious how a $100 engine would cost $1,000 I guess I know now. The SWRC & NTK rules clearly state everything in the motor must be stock & not altered in anyway. You were blatantly cheating.

So Jerry VanDeusen had it right when he said

and most of the time the ones that piss and moan are the ones building cheater motors

If you dont know or understand the answer to that question, then you are racing the wrong class buddy !

Everyone that answered your post only heard your side of the story & they all get it except you, now they have the whole story.

Arturo,

Simply not true. The Chonda rules were posted on the NTK website & were accessible by everyone. Almost the same rules as the class in the SWRC series & GCKI track except we allowed 6.0 rear tyres & required MG tyres.

The rules included a claimer like all the other rules for the clone class across the country, we didn't do anything different at NTK.

My husband built Chonda engines for any member that wanted to buy them to help get the class started. Some racers bought his engines some didn't. But they were all stock as they came out of the box. The only thing he did to them was remove the governor & oil sensor & put on the racing kit. Pretty simple & a lot of members did this themselves some members & new racers bought them from us to save themselves the trouble.

Your engine was teched as you claimed a track record & refused a claim. The club president did the tech the first time & couldn't explain why parts of the crank were bright blue. They don't some from Harbor Freight like that. The second time someone else in the class claimed your engine & you again refused the claim. The club decided to send the engine to be teched by a 4-cycle expert in Oklahoma as it was a new class & no one at NTK was familiar with teching 4-cycle engines. The results were that the cam had been altered, everyone I talked to that saw it including the person that teched it said it looked like it had been micro blued. The piston rings were also lapped (rules required cam & piston rings to be unaltered & stock).

You told me you had it sent from California & paid $1,00 for it then denied saying it 5 minutes later only a NTK board member was standing right next to me when you said that so deny it all you want, just like saying there was no rules for the class. Simply not true.

The rules stated if you refuse the claimer you lose the points for the entire series. They only took your points away from one race. They didn't want to enforce the rules as they were posted on the website as the class had been added after the January rules meeting & hadn't been voted on by the members as the class had been started after the January rules mtg.

I am very sorry your daughter doesn't want to race anymore but instead of blaming me & a lack of rules you should blame yourself for breaking the rules that were posted on the website & getting caught using an illegal engine!

You ruined the Fall season for your daughter as you did for everyone else in that class that you displaced from the podium with your illegal engine.

Now because of you the club changed the rules this year & require us to have engines sealed by NTK as well as the claimer rule.

Question - Now that we are required to use engines sealed by the club & the rules have been voted on & the claimer will be enforced this year - Why aren't you racing in that class this year?

I agree, you shuldn't have to sell your good engine. Still, that's the rules and they were the rules when you started in that class, you knew what would happen if you started winning a lot. You knew it up front and you have no ground to stand on. Sorry, but you did know. They have classes like that for the people you are beating. They have those class to keep people from putting a lot of money into an engine.

Everyone else in the class was in their rookie year. Arturo's daughter had 11 years racing experience. We had a few other experienced racers but they would only enter the occasional race not all the races. We had a couple of father & son & mother & son racers too. It was a lot of fun.

The first season of the 4-cycle class at NTK was awesome except for this issue. We got a lot of new members & 4-cycle racers & every one else that raced last year are racing again this year. I started the class last year, myself my husband & my son were the only racers in the class the first couple of Spring races but it ended up as one of the largest classes at the club & is getting bigger this year!

This looks like something that should be taken care of at the club level....

Yes, some cranks and cams have blue coloring from the factory. This isn't any indication of performance, it's just because of heat treating. It is possible someone will build a $1000 clone motor (think WC Fields). But, making the parts inside of it blue won't make it any faster if it passes tech (which by the way should be done with measuring tools, not color swatches).

In this and any sport if you aren't playing by all the rules you are cheating. That includes any claim or tear down rules as well as accepting the decisions of club officials.

Two things I don't understand here.

1. Why does a kid with 12 years racing experience need to be champion over a bunch of kids who just started?

2. Why does a club let a kid with 12 years racing experience dominate a class full of beginners?

This is the kind of stuff that keeps kart racing small and unfortunately it's way too common in our sport Crying or Very sad

Sealing a bunch of Harbor Freight motors might make people feel better but they are pretty unlikely to be anywhere close to equal without some kind of blueprinting process first. If it was up to me every kid would run the Briggs LO206 period, I can't stand seeing parents fighting in front of their kids over kart motors.

JMHO,

Darn, very good points, both of them. I'll bet you don't get any response. Sad but true.
