When searching, a lot of forums let you choose if you want to search the full text or just the title. It's really useful when you're searching for topics on common words.
For example, if I'm looking for threads that are talking about trailer recommendations for transporting a kart, just seeing the threads that have "trailer" in the title is likely going to be much more useful than seeing 33 pages of results of any thread that contains the word "trailer." |

| Yes! I just had this problem, looking for rental karts. I get a bajillion thread results that have nothing to do with what I'm looking for. |

Actually, when you click Search, there is a function that says "by Author"
If you put in the person's account name, it will pull up all the threads they have posted to. Then you find one they either started or were last to post in order to find their profile.
Obviously, everything is not easy as we are still using the same forum from five years ago with little updates. In the next generation of the site, we should see improvement in user ability on the forums. Thanks. _________________ David Cole

+1000
Searching on this forum is soooo tedious and difficult when you can't search titles and every search returns 50 pages of results. |

Similar to what I just posted on the member list searches - if you are searching on posts, and get a long list, if you have some idea of the age or something like that of where you want to go, you can use this. Once you have the search done, and you have 40 pages or whatever, there will be 15 entries per page. If you go to page 2, you will get a URL in browser like this:
http://www.ekartingnews.com/search.php?search_id=1965316396&start=15
The final parameter that says "start=15" is the record number that is used to start the list in the window. For the search function it displays 15 per page, so if you have some idea how deep you want to index, then 15 per page, if you want to be 10 pages in, you can just type over the 15 and make 135 and you will be on page 9 or 10 and then you can continue from there. |
