Oh, you had to know what would happen here...
The classic case was when JR Clausen was in charge of the Region 7 Gearbox Division. Things may have not been perfect, but they were evolving into a fairly competitive series, with a consistently good turnout. What happened? IKF decided to fix something that wasn't broken. Now what do you have? Not much, to say the least. Now, if what you say is true, the same thing is about to happen again. However, if it is true, I would have to believe that it is in part because the Podlesni's have had enough. I certainly cannot speak for them, so this simply is my opinion of a possible scenario. Most certainly, someone who knows for sure will come on and stir the pot,er, I mean clear this all up. |

Larry,
I thought Randolph was running you up to Willow this weekend.
I am afraid that you might be correct.
It would be a shame to derail a good thing, I suspect also that the Podlesni's had to put a substancial amount of money into the series just to make it run.

Hey John,
We were going, but I ran into a little complication with my back injury, so we were a no show. Next time. Thanks for noticing. |

Larry,
Us too, the injection pump on the truck died so we couldn't make it either. I guess the 215hp pump won't last at 330+ ponies.

I have noticed a couple of posts mentioning the Podlesni/Region 7 2001 season. All of these have been overwhelming praise. I agree.
John, Joy and Robert did a fantastic job. I am sure that others, Irving and Barros also involved, among the list too many to mention should receive Kudos also. You too, Rick Brown!!
It is my understanding that the IKF is considering other promoter(s). Have I and others missed something? If the formula worked last year, (2001) would it not improve in 2002? I am not fishing for politics here, I am looking for RACERS input.

UH>>>> I am on the IKF BOD and not ONCE has anyone even discussed promotors re: region 7 sprint.
FYI. IKF does not hire promoters to put on regional races. Clubs /Tracks / promoters fill out their paperwork for sanctining, etc and then have a individual IKF race, or a series if they want to participate in the matching funds program.
There are some IKF regions where multiple series go on.
I attended the IKF Region 7 Sprint Banquet that Joy Podlesni put on and it was great, it looked like everyone had a good time. At that time Joy told me that she wasn't sure if they were going to do the series the next year or not.
If you are interested in helping this series, be sure to vote for your area govenors,in November and/or offer to work as the regional co-ordinator. |

| Also, I don't recall there being a IKF Gearbox series, I DO recall working at the GB grands for several years, but those drivers were waived punches because there were NO gearbox races to attend. JR did TONS of work on that division, no one can deny that! Maybe that's why I call him my secret boyfriend... what more could a girl want, a handsome man, who is charismatic and has a very strong work ethic... I couldn't have a better so-secret-even-he-doesn't-know-about- it boy friend if I tried... Even my husband likes him! But I guess that's a whole different subject... JR is currently helping some drivers on some rule suggestions for IKF, at least that's what I heard, and I for one appreciate his time and support of the RR division. |

Deb,
There was a Region 7 Gearbox series two or three years ago. I remember watching Alex Barron smoke the field at Adam`s and then get DQ`ed.

See! I told you it might be alzheimers. How many races were in this series? I remember there being some shifter racing, but I didn't remember if they were IKF sanctioned or not.
Pete, you gonna come to my lunch? |

Deborah,
I didn't think that I implied that IKF hires promoters. If I did, oopps. Anyway, my point was that over the last few years, the Region has had ups and downs. It seems, (perception) that when someone does a First Class job of running and organizing a season, those people drop out. In comes new blood and the monentum never gets going.

Deb,
Let me know when and where.
John, I think part of the problem is burnout from trying to please everyone. In karting it can`t be done. No matter how hard a promoter tries, someone will complain about something. If everyone would relax a little and have FUN racing I think we could keep the good promoters around a little longer.

Deb, it was the 1999 IKF Vega Tire USA Southwest Gearbox Series (Whew!) It was a lot of fun when JR was running it (with a few exceptions of course), then IKF decided for whatever reason the Mr. V. would handle the show in 2000. The rest is history... |
