On my WF I had two bolts that hold the crankcase cover fall out. They are lost and I need to replace them. Both of them are on the bottom of the cover and are easy to get to. The bolt on the back is easy to get to.

However, I have looked at a diagram of the crankcase cover and there appears to be a bolt on the front of the cover, bolt on front of the top of the cover and one bolt back of that where the cover comes down at an angle to the back of the cover.

It looks to me that I will have to remove the chain guard and clutch to get to the bolts I can not see. Is that correct?

If I have to remove my clutch I am in deep shi*

Paul,

Take a deep breath, OK, now let it out.........

Yes, you'll probably have to pull the clutch and chainguard to get at all the sidecover bolts. It shouldn't be that big a deal though, if you have to use a puller on the clutch make sure to put a small bolt into the threaded hole in your crank to keep from messing up the threads. Use a torque wrench on the sidecover to make sure you get the bolts tight but not stripped. You don't need a fancy one, the import clickers are fine for this purpose. While you're at it pick up a helicoil kit, you'll need it eventually. Make sure your exhaust is braced well and check the header bolts every time before you fire the engine up.

Ok, breathe....

John,

Need an oxygen bottle and mask - ugh.

I was afraid of this. Crying or Very sad

Thanks for the tip on the header bolts.

Think I ought to put together a check list for every fastener that needs to be checked.

Here I go with my 5 thumbs.

Paul
