Using an Intrepid Storm chassis in WF?

I have been looking for information about the new Intrepid Storm chassis, and whether it is suitable without major modifications (cutting and welding seat braces, etc.) for use with a Briggs World Formula engine.

I have heard rumors that someone on the East coast has experimented with this, but have not seen any specifics on what they found.

I am also concerned about the suitability of the chassis for my son. He is 13 and pretty light weight (80# of lead to meet class minimum weight!), so he needs a fairly free chassis. Would the Storm fall into this category, or is it designed for a bigger driver?

Thanks for any advice or opinions you can offer.

He's putting one together for the Granite State Kart Championship http://www.granitestatekartchampionship.com which will run on two tracks in New Hampshire.

I'm getting all the parts ordered and gathered to mount a WF on an Arrow AX9-4S. That will make two for the series and hopefully we'll get some more people interested when they have something to see. Where are you planning to run a WF?

This is a reply I received from Leading Edge on the Intrepid Storm, regarding mounting the WF on it.....

"INTREPID KART / LEADING EDGE MOTORSPORTS We sell the STORM kart for 2650.00 and you have to pull the Axel to put the sprocket to the inside but that's all. otherwise it's a go we use only Burris mounts with the slider plates.

Not all chassis are set up exactly as needed for the WF or for that matter other engines. So you might have to do some modifications.

I just assembled an 2010 Intrepid Storm and World Formula package. it went together without a hitch. We used Burris mounts:
BMC 593 - 5 degree base mount
BMC 542 - 4 cycle adapter plate

I have not had a chance to get the kart out for testing yet, ( thanks to the New England weather) but it looks like it will be a real great package and priced right.

As noted, you will need to slide the axle out to install the rear sprocket carrier as it mounts inboard but otherwise a straight forward installation. Feel free to give me a call or drop me a note if you are interested in any pictures or have any questions.
