Rick C: I do agree with you 99% of the time But in this case the "FINES " are paid to NASCAR then NASCAR distributes the fines to the NASCAR foundation in Charlotte. Specifically agreed to by the IRS so that the person / team CANNOT use it as a Tax Deduction. I have heard that from 2 drivers and 1 team owner. Unless something has changed in the past year. Grand-Am does it the same way . Not sure how it is handled by other sanctioning bodies or the IRL.

Bob, I wasn’t meaning that in the literal tax deductible sense, more of a literal charitable sense. Thus, like, in a giving charitable manner. Sorry if I confused anyone. Then again, some guys have been known to deduct their NASCAR fines. Maybe it has something to do with this? Don't hear much about Gene these days . I do find it IRONIC that the IRS does have certain guidelines for the MLB ,NHL .NBA, NFL and as of a few years ago NASCAR. due to their uniqueness. of business operations. Call me a WUS but next to the lying worthless Obammy The biggest fear of GOVT I have is the IRS . Talk about rediculeous fines More than 1 driver and team owner has been brought down by them.. Not many of you young bucks will remember the name BILL GAZWAY former tech director and FINE man for NASCAR but I would rather to have faced his rath than the IRS.

Bob, I'm sure you know this but Haas is Tony Stewarts partner (Stewart-Haas Racing). A few months ago I was watching an episode of American Chopper and they built a bike for Stewart-Haas Racing. They took a tour of the shop and both Stewart and Haas were there.
I think Tony got 51% in that deal so he probably runs the operations and lets Gene handle the business side of it.

Yes I am aware of Gene's BUSINESS affiliation with Tony Stewart. Just seems like when Stewart-Hass racing is mentioned no one ever mentions his name anymore .Perhaps he is happier keeping it that way .

NASCAR.com has announced a 3 race probation for Edwards. no fine or points deduction. WOW! he got off very lightly. drivers in the past have been placed on probation for the season for much less.

I wonder how much ratings had to do with the punishment. NASCAR keeps running commercials about beating and banging. Kind of hard to punish someone for doing what they advertise.

This will only get worse he didn't even get a slap on the hand!!
Whats to stop a lapped car from taking out the leader as he goes by!!OOps sorry about that!!
One more reason I don't miss Nascar!!!

What joke. That's it? A three race probation? You can basically put somebody's life at risk and destroy a very expensive race car because you're mad and get probation.

3 RACE PROBATION  Oh wait that is OK seems like different RULES apply if you are a Childress ,Gibbs ,Hendrick or ROUSH driver. Makes about as much sense to me as CLOSING DOWN THE LOUNGE

While I laughed at the 3 race probation, I understand why it happened. NASCAR does not want to suspend a team from racing due to the potential of a sponsor leaving.

If I were a sponsor, I think I'd make it clear that you don't want them out wrecking cars that you paid good money for. NASCAR has lost its mind. It's turning intot he WWE or WWF whatever it is this week. I don't think fans are going to tune in so they can see drivers take each other out. They want to get back to their roots but in the past, these kinds of disagreements were settled off the track. Back then they didn't want to tear up their cars because they had to fix it and race it next week. Now teams have 6 or so cars and some of these guys just say screw it, I'll let the guys in the shop fix it. I mean, look at Ragan, he hit the wall. You knew it was going to go flat and it did. He hit the wall and he tore up a car. What was the logic there?

| I think the punishment was fair considering that this is big boy racing not karting. This rivalry between Kes and Carl go back over a year ago and Kes has doled out some rank driving himself, so maybe he should be on probation also. It is now over and everybody quit your crying. |
