For those who may not be aware Speed is again airing the Aussie V8 Supercar series.

The next race is Bahrain and will air this Sunday at 2:00 pm Eastern time.

If you have never watched this series I highly recommend it, think British Touring cars on steriods or vintage Trans-Am from the late 60's early 70's. They had 29 cars on the grid in Abu Dhabi, good turnout considering the current global economy.

Tune in, you won't be disappointed.

John

Best racing you'll ever see, bar none. I'll set a reminder on the TV now, thanks!

It looked like a challenging track . Good to see Marcus Ambrose doing some Announcing . Do you know when that was taped?

The racing gets better when they get onto "real" tracks back in Oz.
The Adelaide and Melbourne ( F1 support) street race's are next up and will be much more entertaining Wink

Best thing is its door banging brute force racing- J Stewart said it's 70's Trans Am, that's close, just add 250 hp, 2 more gears and way better brakes and rubber. It is the best series around even though they have been bitten somewhat by the NASCRAP spec body bug. At least their doors open.

You could call it "spec body" but in reality they are very close to street bodys , its just that there are only 2 sedans they can race..
... the GM/Holden "Commodore" ,

...or the Ford "Falcon".

Next race is March 13th, the Adelaide "Clipsal 500" street race.

Adelaide is always an awesome race. These cars are much more exciting to watch on the street courses. The walls give them yet another option to bounce off of.

That's a Vette, the Commodore is the recently past GTO.

The spec I referred to is they have two bode profile templates they use that both the Ford and Holden must be the same and the team build the cars to fit the template as well as common wheel base and track. Not as extensive as Nascar's aluminum maiden they use, but still not exactly what drives down the street.

Ahh, they have changed the photo on that link !
..I will fix it again.
Yes i know what you mean , the cars are all built to a spec but at least they do retain many of the original body panels.
Adelaide race 1 over, another to run today.
i wont spoil the results for those that pick up the broadcast later.

Thanks John, missed today's race. I'll check the Speed website and see when it is on again.
