Face the facts, she is an above average racer, not spectacular, but not bad. This sport is driven by m$ney. She is obviously a marketing gold mine. Jr. probably had dozens of companies begging him to take their money to sponsor her. Does she deserve it? I'd say on racing talent alone, probably not. But she brings in the money, and that's why everyone's in it. So in that respect, she definitely deserves that. _________________ Blaise Haynes

Why not on on her talent? She's won an IRL race and she placed 6th or 7th in her first ARCA race. She seems dedicated, she seems to ask the right questions and she gets racy on the track. She's been racing her whole life. What more does she need to do, grow a penis? _________________ Sex is like pizza. When it's good it's great and when it's bad, it's still pretty good. |

Her talent level doesn't merit the level of attention that she is receiving. Juan Pablo Montoya saw waaaay more success than her on the track and you didn't see the same media and advertising attention focused on him. Same with Hornish, Allmendinger, Speed, etc. The fact that she is a female AND she has some driving talent makes her a marketing gold mine. I think she should expose it to it's fullest, get whatcha can from it.
I'd bet if Schumi showed up in NASCAR he wouldn't even get that much attention. Agree? _________________ Blaise Haynes

If Schumi showed up I bet he would get just as much, if not more attention. There are two way you can look at this. One; you can be all bitter and say she's just getting this attention because she's a hot chick. Or two; you can look at the big picture and say that she's getting all this attention because she's a good driver who happens to be a successful woman in sport that has been dominated since its' inception by men. Juan just happens to be another man out of thousands that have tried. I just can't see why people are being so bitter about the fact that she's getting attention. Just let her have her day. She's doing fine, she's holding her own. The increased viewership has got to be good for the sport. Is it really such a bad thing. Most of the criticism seems to come from the race fans and not the other drivers. _________________ Sex is like pizza. When it's good it's great and when it's bad, it's still pretty good. |

I'm not bitter about it, I say 'more power to her'. I don't know if I'd say that it's because of her looks, although I'm sure that doesn't hurt. Sure there are younger kids out there that will become her fans because of that. I think it's more the fact that she has been the most successful female racer in a very long time (possibly ever) and now she is stepping onto the biggest stage in all of auto racing in the U.S. _________________ Blaise Haynes

| I just wish all this attention in Danica would result in a huge influx of kids and adults to karting--guess we will see as the summer approaches--I so wish Danica and Jamie, too, would pose in front of their former or current favorite kart chassis for some photo ops--would do so much for the sport of karting--and karting does need a good shot in the arm right now--I only hope the "Clone" will save the sport. And I assure you, all the Danica hype is getting to a few of the notables in NASCAR racing--and I don't see the hype or their disgust subsiding in the near future. Go Danica! |

If you notice , GoDADDY has been a major , major sponsor of the races, that has been a big reason for a lot of her attention. I think she is a great addition to any racing series, regardless. _________________ where ever I go, I bring it |

jeff, you're probably right about that. i think he would've rounded up a few fans of his own though. the young guys because Budweiser was his sponsor and some young girls because he was some cool, single guy that drove race cars (and had tons of money!). But i agree that he wouldn't have won most popular driver. but like i said about danica, get while the gettin's good. _________________ Blaise Haynes

Tom why do we have to be bitter or jealous to think Danica has average talent. I watched the ARCA race and I think her name was mentioned about 5 times on the first lap and nothing was said about the leader until he crossed the start /finish line. I thought she did a good job in the ARCA and Nationwide races but I think she will have a very rough time if she trys Sprint Cup and will be very average in Nationwise.
Why do I think she is average? The results speak for themselves. She has been in very good equipment in the IRL and her average finish is as follows:
ovals 9.7
streets 10.83
road 11.62
I'm not sure on the average # of entries but I'll guess less than 20.
I have nothing against her and I don't want to see her fail, I'm just tired of the hype over an average driver that is somewhat attractive that you old geezers are slobbering over. |

Bill, There is another factor at work there, Danica has consistently out performed her team mates including Buddy Rice, Marco Andretti and Tony Kanaan.
Hovering around in the top 5 in points year in year out would seem to indicate that she's doing something pretty well. _________________ Greg Wright
