Dono if a dangerously unstable car is what OWR needs. If one of those cars flips mario-style into the stands...

Larry,

I bet the Delta Wing won't be unstable by race day. What I'm saying is that preview marketing buzz car will "evolve" and that front end will widen out before/during testing.

I would say that a race for 500 miles that takes over 6 & 1/2 hours is a "spectacle". It was entertaining at the end, some great wrecks.

yes the delta wing look incredibly stupid ! maybe im thinkin about it too much but since the rear is so much wider than the front and obviously any driver for the most part is used to having rear pretty much as wide as the front i think there would be alot of extra wrecks just due to the fact that as a driver your side by side with somebody yet you like 10ft apart !

I agree.

Push the front wheels out, shorten the wheelbase a bit and it reminds me of the Brabham BT52

If the Delta Wing makes it to race day you can be sure the lawyers have figured out a way to make it stable.

The problem I see is the roll center and moment arm ratios between the front and rear. At higher speeds if it begins just a little oversteer I doubt a Cray could calculate iterations of steering corrections fast enough.

If you're interested in mundane stuff like Roll Centers and Virtual swing axle length etc take a peek at Race Car Tuner and watch the animations on Dynamic Suspension Geometry.

IMO all the Delta Wing is for is forcing heads to turn whilst expelling noises like "Gee Whiz" or more likely "Holy $%|!". Seems to be working.

I saw the pics of the new Lola today. I like it! And the Swift design. I really liked the Panoz DP01 a lot though too...
