I've got the motion pro clutch cable with the curved piece of steel sheathing on the end that goes into the cases. Where can I get just the inner braided cable that has the proper end on it that goes into the pull mechanism on the engine side. I’m not sure if the standard CR125 cable is long enough to work on a shifter kart. I had some piece of crap cable sent to me by a shop that has a giant cylinder on the end that won't even fit into the pull mechanism.

Nope, not long enough by at least a foot.

You can try going to a bicycle shop and seeing what cables they have, but it's unlikely that they'll have a cable thick enough.

You can call motion-pro and see if they'll sell you just the cable without the housing. Should be about $5 before shipping if they'll do it.

Thanks that might be good for the long run but I need the cable today Shocked

I guess I'll just need to bust out the hammer.

Just carve down the ball on the end of the bad cable. Should work for today at least.

I started doing that last night but then thought I could get the correct cable easily. Then I forgot that nothing is easy.

Try www.worldofpowersports.com or www.bikebandit.com

They have OEM parts for just about every year for all bikes. I use the OEM YZ-125 clutch cable and it works fine with the Trackmagic clutch handle.

Mike,

I just had a custom clutch cable made at MOTOWEST for $35 complete (cover/adjuster/cable/ends). The owner (Steve Marolda) understands what we need for shifter karts and made the nicest cable I have used.

He explained that using certain types of outer covers covering the cable makes the cable slide easier and last longer. I gave him the measurements and my old cable and he had it finished in a day. He said with more orders, he can have the parts in stock and pre-make some up. I am sure there are many different ways to configure the cable up to the clutch handle, but the length, the adjuster and the end that goes into the engine would be the same. Guys with Yamahas and Kawasaki engines can order them, also.

He can do custom throttle cables, as well (less money).
