Good morning, race fans -
I am expecting that David made it to Daytona unscathed, although I wasn't so lucky. After arriving at the Toronto Int'l Airport at 9:00 am for my 12:00 pm flight, I was quickly informed that because of the SIX-HOUR line for customs and security, they were already rebooking for the next day. Crazy! I had to stay at an airport hotel to make sure I'd make my new 6:15 departure time. And take this tip, always be nice to the gate agents, even when you may be frustrated. Being light and cheery during my re-booking netted me an upgrade to first class. Always treat people as you would like to be treated yourself...eventually, it pays off.
To make sure I made today's flight, I got up at 1:40 am and was in line at the US Airways counter at 2:08 am. The start to a great day!
Looking forward to getting to the track, seeing everyone and doing a little research for tomorrow's live broadcast. The 2010 season is upon us! _________________ Rob Howden

| I hear Gary Carlton is helping Jamie McMurray at this event. Also hear that the place looks alittle sparce and that the high today will be in the low 50's. Wonder what the 4 cycle attendance looks like down the road at Orman Beach--Bill McCutcheon event? |

| In addition to Jamie McMurray, Jayski says A. J. Allmendinger is racing the WKA event, too. What class? Anyone know? |

EKN TRACKSIDE LIVE UPDATE:
The practice day is wrapping up here in Daytona Beach for the World Karting Association Daytona KartWeek. Following yesterday's move-in, karts hit the racing surface for all three programs taking place - Manufacturer's Cup Series, Road Racing Series, and the Dirt World Championships.
Numbers on the sprint track look to be around the 500 mark when the event is done. The Road Racing program added to their over 400 pre-entry mark and trailers continue to arrive for the two-days of racing on the Dirt Oval.
As mentioned in the Event Preview, NASCAR's Jamie McMurray and AJ Allmendinger are competing. McMurray is aboard a CRG with Gary Carlton turning the wrenches. 'Dinger' is on a Margay with his old karting team manager Tim Pappas helping out. IndyCar's Dan Wheldon is joining the BTK/Arrow group, all racing TaG. Another famous name on the entry lists is AMA legand Scott Russell. 'Mr. Daytona' will trade in two wheels for four to compete in the TaG division as well.
As the action begins tomorrow, we will be posting the updates throughout the day, including the top-10 from the Man. Cup event. We will be working with the Road Race and Dirt timing/scoring people to make sure we are receiving results. _________________ David Cole
