Hi,

I'm having trouble finding a battery for my new Coleman starter. Russell Karting (from whom I purchased the starter) said I should get a "yard" or garden battery, however, nobody I have called (including Home Depot) seems to know what I am talking about.

Will a motorcycle battery work, and if not, does anyone know where, within say 10 miles of Berkeley, CA, I can get the right battery, and what I should ask for?

Thanks,
Chris

You need to get a lawn tractor or riding mower battery. Sears or a garden equipment store should have them.

Most of your auto parts stores carry them.

Hi Chris,
I just sent you an email regarding me and my racing partner's similarities to your situation (new karters, Norcal area). Shoot me an email if you have a problem finding an appropriate battery, my racing partner just happens to be a battery salesman. He just got a battery for our starter, and he mentioned something about local club rules stating that it must be a sealed battery, so he's in the know, and he can get them.

Hi Chris:

You should be able to fint that battery in any Home Depot or Lowe's even in a local auto-parts. All you need to know is how many volts the old battery is, and the CA or better known as Cranking Amps. the battery has. Hope this info can help you a bit....

I just bought a 17amp hour sealed lead acid battery for $44 + shiping that everyone else wants $120 for. It is the same size as the original in my KT 100 starter. they have other sizes too.http://www.action-electronics.com/gelcell.htm

Saro that's no laughing matter! If things go as planned, the environmentalists will have that fine propane powered starter we all know and love replaced by a propane/electric hybrid! After that all bets are off!
