How much methanol can you mix with the gas and still get a stock Wb3a to run right on a Yamaha. Somebody told me 25% but, that sounds like alot.

Jimmy,
What would be the point in useing methanol in a stock WB3A carb on a Yamaha? The rules require spec gasoline. |

The point is to make it go faster and run cooler with less carbon deposits. We don't have any gas rules at our track.

Depends on the weather and the exhaust pipe.
25% shouldn't be a problem at all though.

The exhaust is a 4 hole can and lets say the weather is "standard day" conditions. Where is the gray zone, 50% ? How can you tell you're having a problem? Would a Wb3a handle 50% methanol if you drill some of the holes a little bigger and add a dump tube to the high jet? Is it really worth messing with for less than 50% ? I think the HP boost would only be about 1/4 horse for 25%. What do you think PM, would it be better to go with 4 oz. of nitro?

The impression I get is that with methanol you have trouble getting enough of it go through the carb to feed the engine but, with nitro the carb feeds the engine just fine but you have a problem running rich enough to keep the enigne cool. Does that sound right?
