If you have a 2 cycle specific chassis and want to run a 4 cycle on it take a look at our new jack shaft. Without modifying the chassis the DE type allows a 4cycle with the clutch mounted on the engines left side to transfer the power through the jack shaft to the right side and use the existing drive hub. It also allows the engine to be positioned farther to the right for more seat and strut clearance.

If buying used, try to find '05 or newer Margay 4 cycle chassis. I've used my '07 with a WF. It's easy to setup and works great.
You may want to buy this one........reputable seller and a very fast kart.

If you already have a 2 cycle chassis it's worth the time to move the sprocket carrier to the inboard position and test fit a 4 cycle motor. Since mostly we run the smaller rear sprockets many chassis that you wouldn't think would work actually do.
I've converted a bunch of karts up to and including moving the rear cross member but mostly that's not necessary. The biggest mod needed is usually just going to a bolt on seat strut on the right hand side but often that's unnecessary with a good adjustable motor mount.

Craig I run a 3 kart WF team. Two of my 3 chassis are CRG Kali's. I am desperatley trying to find a third. The Kali does not require any seat strut modification with a 0 degree burris motor mount. I absolutley Love that frame.
I have also seen wf run on tony karts down in IKF region 7 (so. Cal) I do not think they chopped the right strut, but I would ask Terry Nash at (909) 981-9611 or nashman1412@aol.com |

Hey Todd,
Good lookin out brother. Thanks for asking for me. I did a little research and found that the clearances aren't there to just slap a WF on my KT1. The cross bar won't leave enough room for the chain to clear. Looks like I'll have to use the Burris Jack Shaft. It's a real nice setup. The only thing stopping me at this point is deciding to use this chassis or sell it and buy American.Any opinions out there?

If you have the budget definitely sell your kart and buy a 4 cycle specific chassis. I'll bet any of the US manufacturers will give you a great deal this year, and you'll have support from someone who knows what you're trying to do with the kart.

I'm racing at Englishtown tomorrow. I'll call you this week. I know where there's a steal of a deal on Margay '07 roller 4 cycle chassis just outside of Baltimore. I know the people and have seen the kart. It's perfect for a WF.

What is the nature of the WF class? Is it supposed to be a sprint style class with the wider rear axle and the upright seat? What's faster, a 4cycle chassis with the narrower rear or the euro sprint upright type? And if I were to use a sprint type chassis would the tubing size make that much of a difference (30mm vs. 32mm).

Joe,
You can use either CIK(2 stroke) bodywork with a situp seat or Gold Cup(4cycle/full body) with a laydown seat. Either is acceptable in the WKA rules. It's a crossover class. I have sets of both types but I'm currently using the M&M Gold Cup body. Less wind resistance on big wide open tracks like NJMP.
Not sure about the tubing size. I would think your kart would be fine as long as you can figure out how to mount the motor on it. You are a big S.O.B. though. haha

Thanks for the input Todd. I would love to use this chassis since I have already become familiar and well invested into it. I heard that the WF has more bottom end torque than the Rotax (don't know how true that is), so I wasn't sure how much chassis twist was involved. But I guess with seat time comes a smooth foot and then none of that makes a difference.
