Conlin SpeedSports would like to thank everyone at NCMP for putting on another great endurance race. Mark, Mike, Donna, Karen and the rest of the staff but especially Warren for helping Dana drag our heavy-a$$ kart out of the mud at the Interstate corner after the brakes gave out.
Thanks also to Kartworks, Dave Creech Racing, Bill Willis of POWERsports and Brian O'Hara - the Kosmic/Rok TT was near perfect all day. High fives all around to our experienced, polished crew whose first and only routine pit stop resulted in a 2:03.6 second lap, faster than any of the refueling stops 4 of the top 5 teams had (nice work Vison Racing). I know I'm bragging big time here but I'm really proud of them. They were just as good on the non-routine stops making repairs and getting the karts back out.
Heaps of praise go to our drivers-
Ladies first, the "XY" team: Lynsey Tilton who has been our anchor for years and will continue to be - had a great qualifying run, lapped quickly with brake issues and finsihed the race with a seat strut directly against her ribs. Dana Mees who did an extra-long stint to keep us in the game after earlier problems. And Melissa Landspurg who joined our team with 2 weeks notice after we learned Tracy couldn't do it. Melissa ran her first endurance race like a pro and was even lapping faster than the leaders late in the race when the drive sprocket stripped.
And the guys, the "XX" team: Mike Unger and Chris Tatman were marching their way up the charts for a certain top ten finish when a throttle problem put them in the pits for lengthy repairs and later header problems. Between all that they ran clean, consistant, competitive laps that deserved a better result than they got.
All in all, we had top 10 karts, top 10 drivers, a top 5 crew but bottom 10 luck this year. But, we're already starting to get past the frustration and plan for next year. _________________ Jim

Hi Scott -
There are some great pics in there and several great ones of our team. Will Mrs. Heavin mind if we swipe some for our web site? If not, how would she like to be credited? Certainly not "Mrs. Scott Heavin". |

Jim,
No problem - and she said not to worry about any photo credits. Also, if anyone wants hi-res of them, the originals are about 4MB and I can e-mail them to you. Just PM me your address. _________________ Spec TaG Masters @ NCMP / #23 |

Jeff,
It was right before halfway...maybe lap 95. He got sandwiched in between 2 karts. One of them ended up on top of his leg. They took him to the ambulance but he turned down the ride to the emergency room. He's a Dr. @ the Cleveland Clinic (in radiology) so he just went in on Mon morning in his own department. He figured he could wait 4 hrs or drive home 4 hrs and go right in...
I didn't see the wreck but I can't figure out why anyone would attempt an outside pass in the greenroof righthander after the fast lefthander?!?! Especially with over 100 laps to go. His leg and my wallet!! We were in 6th before our 1st pitstop...ah well.

| Carpenter/O'Rourke team--congratulations on a amazing Robopong win last weekend. And Ed, you were terrific on the Tuesday night racefan radio show--it became obvious you both came very prepared to win the event. Wishing you a great Homestead event and a stellar 2010 season in the Indy Racing League. I hope there are 75 plus entries in robopong next year. |
