I'm with Walt, get all the protection you can. I have had road rash a few times in my life and I can tell you it sucks anywhere you get it. _________________ Shut up and Drive !!!!

The need for Bell racing shoes was just a lame joke. I can care less about the name. I road race my kart in northern California and as far as I know, lowtop shoes are perfectly legal. The only reason I like them better is because of the way they fit me and the way they feel. I have never liked shoes that go above my ankles.
Thanks for the comments and suggestions everyone!

Best driving shoes i've ever owned are my Pilotis. Have a couple pairs for the street, and i use their karting boot at the track. Definitely get a shoe that gives you good ankle protection. The Ingles are generously padded, should you ever need that. They're actually comfortable (unlike most driving shoes), and you can wear them all day...i sure do. The real genius is in the heel, which lets you roll into the brake/gas ever so nicely (or heel-toe like a pro in a car). They're a little more expensive than $75, but i'm a believer.

What organization are you going to race with? With IKF, it requires the ankles to be covered. It is not very often that something is ever said, but!!!!!! _________________ Bob Phillips
