I am looking to replace the cheap K1 shoes I bought when I first got into karting, but with so many options and since I do not have the ability to try them all on, I am hoping some of my fellow karters can give me some recommendations.

The only requirements are the shoes have to be either low or mid-top, no high top shoes. I would prefer low top shoes.

And finally, I do not want to break the bank on shoes. I am looking to pay under $75 for a pair.

Thanks in advance,
-J

Wrestling shoes. Of course, SKUSA and CKI may require an expensive "homologated" shoe, but if they do it's just another place to make karters spend unnecessarily.

Bob,

Nice jab towards CKI and SKUSA.

But I've never seen a rule requiring "homologated" shoes. And further more I can find anything about shoes on the CIK website.

I used wrestling shoes for many years and they worked great. For the last four years I've worn the Impact mid. They're comfortable and have held up well (this is enduro racing). Looks to be $79 at Comet.

i know that the alpinestars shoes are out of your budget, but mine have lasted over 5 season, so they've more than made up for their extra cost and are still in pretty good shape.
prior to that i had a pair of sparco shoes, and though i'm sure they've improved them since, they felt uncomfortable after 1 year.

My TRP Mid top shoes have been great. Started with Puma/Sparcos and they were uncomfortable to wear for long periods being a bit narrow. The TRP shoes have a wider toe box and dont tire my feet out since I am my own mechanic and on my feet through the day. TNR Kartsports has them for about 65 or 70.

I used my old wrestling shoes for the first year, then I found a deal on Oakleys and been wearing them every sence. Mid top, comfortable, and still look great.

Thank you all for the input so far. These are the ones I am leaning towards. They are low tops and they have a kick ass name! Wink

You want something that covers your ankle. If you get dumped at speed it goes down to the ankle bone pretty quick.

I use ATR shoes I got from GrandProducts.
