This weekend will be the second round of the George Kugler / Bridgestone Manufacturer's Cup Series driven by Mazda. After a long four-month break between rounds, drivers are excited to return to the track for the MRP Speed School Nationals at the Michiana Raceway Park of South Bend in Northern Indiana.

The weekend officially begins on Friday with a full day of classes along with local option racing of Mini Max and Junior Max classes. A total of 10 classes are slated for Saturday's busy day with eight to go on Sunday. Today, the track will be hosting an open practice to anyone with a number of competitors looking to use that option. The weather, however, is not looking good as rain looks to be in the area all day.

On Friday, EKN will have the event preview along with complete coverage over the weekend. Forum updates - including the top-10 after each session on track Saturday and Sunday - photos, results and daily reports will be available all weekend long.

Its about 60 degrees and raining. Some drivers are on the track while most teams are setting up around the Paddock.

It looks like the rain will stop for the weekend.

The track takes the rain very nicely.

Thanks for the update Andre. It's been raining about 2 hours north as well. Weather report for the weekend looks good.

I am sitting here at my desk watching all of the trailers roll in and thinking somone probably needs to tell people about the shortcut down Kern Rd.

My office manager suggested we put a sign at the corner.

Kudos to Armada Racing (i think) they just went down kern rd.

No thats kline tr. and most people only try that shortcut once lol..
The kern rd. shortcut would work for anyone coming from the south to get to the track.

Jody - the sign would have been a good idea!!!

I don't take Kline Trail either, too many rocks flying. My Dad also mentioned Kern Rd isn't the greatest for some of the bigger trailers.

I'll just wave for now

Though the clouds have surrounded the MRP facility, no rain has fallen on the pratice day. A few more groups are on deck before the practice day is complete and the local option classes hit the track for a race. Last night was a crazy Rock Kart race in the wet with a number of current and former stars of the Man. Cup Series taking part.

We'll have pictures from today posted later tonight. Remember, if you have any questions, let us know and we'll get you the answers.

David, I heard there were almost 60 HPV jr's in Practice.

True?

it's good to see those kind of numbers.

I hope we see some growth in the senior ranks soon as well.
