Very Happy Happy Holidays Everybody!

In a little while our family will be leaving for the airport and hopefully arriving in Daytona before midnight tonight. I hope my luggage doesn't get lost again like it did in Vegas for the STARS finale.

The past four weeks since I raced Supernats have felt like four years! Life without racing just plain stinks. I haven't raced since then; the closest I've come to racing has been Gran Turismo 5 on my PS3. Even that gets boring after awhile. So I can't wait to get back in a kart this week.

This season will definitely be challenging and fun. I am done with Cadet (which was very, very good to me), Yamaha Jr. Sportsman, and HPV Jr. Sportsman. This year I will be racing HPV Jr. Lite & Heavy and Yamaha Jr. Supercan Lite and Heavy. I am extremely excited about the higher horsepower because I like going fast.

I just want to say good luck and safe driving to everybody down at Daytona. Can't wait to see all my friends again and get this season rolling. If I don't get in too late tonight, I will post another report. See you guys later...

P.S. My account isn't working yet, so I had to post on my mom's. Sorry about that.

Gary you got that right. I raced with John 20 years ago and he was always out to have fun. I enjoyed some trips to Jacksonville with Doty and Baio. Ask John about the pea fights at the local eatery.Him and Doty where lobbing those things from 4 tables away. Great old times for sure. And oh by the way Doty was a very young lad in 1988. Very Happy

Hey everybody, I'm here but it's really, really late - 12:06 am. We just checked in to the Holiday Inn which is pretty nice. It's warm here even at midnight which feels good compared to New Jersey weather.

First thing in the morning we will be heading to the track to help Mike Doty get set up. I'll have updates for you throughout the day tomorrow but right now, my bed is looking really, really comfy.

Good night.

Today was great!!! I got to see everybody again which was really fun! I was excited to get new gear courtesy of Chris Wheeler of Impact Racing. Everything looks awesome, especially the new helmet and the suit. T.J. Koyen designed the suit for TeamMerlinUSA and it looks amazing!
Many thanks again to Chris Wheeler for all the cool stuff! Very Happy

It seems like there's lots of people racing this weekend since the pits were packed. Not much was going on since it was only registration and pull in day, but that gave us all time to hang out and relax. Mike Doty's tent was full of activity. He and Cale Wyse were working really hard to get my karts ready for tomorrow. They gave my dad the job of putting the stickers on my karts.

Tonight me and my friends Shinya Michimi and Melissa and Stephen Landspurg ate at the Daytona welcoming party at the Fan Zone. The cheeseburgers were ok but the fries were delicious!! Then we all walked out to the finish line of the NASCAR track and we signed our names on it. We had a blast running around all night.

See ya bright and early in the morning!

Hindman's Sunday Entry:

Wow, what a busy day! We got in very late from the Champions banquet. The food was pretty good but the dessert was even better. It was fun because I sat at a table with all of my friends – all kids, NO parents – sweet!!!

There were a few special awards given out to some of my good friends who are great drivers. T.J. Koyen won the award for Most Improved Senior Driver of the Year which was awesome! Congrats T.J.!

A special sportsmanship award was also given out. My friend Shinya Michimi won that one and he definitely deserved it. Congrats to Shinya and his parents, who happen to be the coolest people in karting. They are always very supportive of all the other drivers and they are fun to hang out with. Congrats Shinya!

The most awesome part of the night was when Jamie Sieracki accepted the award for Best Appearing Team for Team Merlin USA. I was really excited because that is the team that I am part of. All of the Merlin Nation was so excited and we are all proud to be a part of it. Congratulations to Jamie, Geo Sieracki, and Mike Doty! Team Merlin is amazing because they give you really great support at all the races. But the best part is that they know how to have fun!

As far as practice went yesterday, the weather was perfect and the track conditions were very good. It was pretty weird not being out there with Cadet or Yamaha and HPV Jr. Sportsman for the first time. This weekend I will be racing HPV Jr. Lite and Heavy and Yamaha Jr. Lite and Heavy. The drivers in my new classes are so fast and it is extremely competitive. I think we were pretty fast all day considering it was my first time so I hope tomorrow goes good.

Going to bed because it is very late! Talk to you guys tomorrow. Good night!

Hindman's Monday Entry:

The racing finally got under way today. The weather was beautiful and I was anxious to finally get out there in my new classes.

Qualifying went well. We qualified 4th in Yamaha Jr. Lite and 2nd in HPV Jr. Heavy. Many of the classes were pretty big and needed LCQ’s. I was glad I didn’t have to run in one of those.

It was a huge difference racing in these classes compared to Cadet. In Cadet, there is always a lot of drafting going on and somebody usually gets freight-trained on the last lap. But in HPV and Yamaha today, the draft is not quite as important. You just have to be consistently fast and aggressive. I admit I need some work on the aggressive part since I fell back to 9th after the Pre-final in Yamaha. The racing is much faster than in my former classes so I have a lot to learn this season. It was really a lot of fun though.

The final events went well for us. I took 3rd in HPV . Congrats to my Merlin teammate Shawn Sharkey on his win! In Yamaha we wound up with a solid 6th place finish. Congrats again to Shawn and Shinya Michimi who had great runs and put their Merlins on the podium.

I had a chance to talk to Jamie McMurray and Gary Carlton, who is Jamie’s tuner this weekend. I told Jamie after my events some info about the track conditions and what he should look out for. He was cool and probably laughed at my advice since he is WAY better than me! But it was awesome to talk with him for awhile.

I hope tomorrow goes as well for our team. Lots of my friends did well today so congrats to all of them! Thank you to Jamie Sieracki, Mike Doty, Gary Woltjer, and Cale Wyse for all the help today. Good luck to everybody tomorrow!

I’m going to bed. It was a pretty exciting yet exhausting day. Good night!

Trent...you're awesome.

If I were McMurray, I'd have listened to your feedback. Wink

Also, don't take too much crap from Doty and Sieracki. You've already accomplished more than they did...combined.

Wink
