Are any of the team USA members still missing? I hope the Alitalia strike doesn't keep them from the event. _________________ Aluminos |

Here is the Tuesday report from the official Rotax reporter, Ken Johnson.
http://www.maxchallenge-rotax.com/event2008/day_24.11.2008.html
As many of you know, Ken is a longtime reporter for the Rotax program and will be their official voice throughout the event. Johnson will be providing EKN with pictures throughout the event and his view of the event. We will also be contacting members of the team, when they have time, for them to post updates. _________________ David Cole

Notice the rear brake caliper in the center of the axle as well? Would be interesting to drive one. _________________ Just my OWN opinions. |

Greetings from Italy.
Quick update before practice today.
Team USA all made it here after lots of luggage/airline problems.
Everyone spent all day yesterday going over the equipment and rebuilding it. We are all excited to drive today and use the new rotax clutch.
The weather is mid 50's with rain alternating days. No one knows what it is going to do but we are pretty sure it will be wet during some of the races.
Some pics to keep you entertained:

How's the internet at the track? They've struggled with getting competitors connected in the past. _________________ Joey Gennari

Received an update that transponders will be handed out tomorrow, thus today's two sessions for each class will not be recorded. _________________ David Cole

The following is from SRA Karting release
The first qualifying sessions took place last night at the Welcome party. In fact, the qualifying was to determine the top five mechanics in the Tire changing competition. Most of the countries discovered this concept for the first time. The manager of this competition and commentator was Bill Wright, from Formula Kart Production and promoter of the Florida Winter Tour. The concept is quite simple. Mechanics must remove a full set of tires from their rim and put them back on as quickly as possible.
Most of the countries took part in the contest. Darko Orcic was the Canadian representative and was in the first wave with the cold tires. He couldn't qualify for the final. Top five results will take part in the final competition on Sunday. Here are the names of the top five mechanics:
Name Country Time
1. Wesley Boswell USA 0,37.84
2. Nigel Horner UK 0,52.73
3. Istvan Karlik Ukrainia 0,55.50
4. Rikiya Tsukamoto Japan 0,58.89
5. Paulo Pita Portugal 1,00.51
We will see on Sunday if Wesley Boswell will still be the fastest.
Congrats to Boswell and good luck to him and his driver Taylor Miinch. _________________ David Cole
