It's that time of year again. Time for the biggest and baddest street race in North America. The 2008 edition of the Rock Island Grand Prix is set for this Labor Day weekend in the city of Rock Island, IL. With a record event purse set to be handed out to the 14 classes that will compete on the weekend, the racing will be exciting to watch Sunday afternoon.
eKartingNews.com will be providing the Trackside Live coverage throughout the weekend from both EKN's Rob Howden and David Cole. Friday in the NEWS section will be the event preview. Saturday will be the EKN forum updates and qualifying report/results - including the top-ten posted to the forum for each class as they sit in the scale line. Sunday will include a complete race report with photos, results and top-ten forum updates.
Remember, if you have any questions or comments, post them here. Thanks and enjoy the weekend coverage. _________________ David Cole

Forecast: Saturday - 80 and Sunny / Sunday - 83 and Sunny. $35,000 purse. 10,000+ spectators as the norm. Just another average karting event, I suppose.
Looks to be a great weekend of racing. See you all in the streets...... _________________ Greg Hughes

Man, it feels like christmas eve.
I believe that I have spent over 35 hours in the past 3 days getting things ready for this race.
We need to get Roger to start having friday pratice _________________ Like a fat kid playing dodge ball. |

I feel like I've spent a month.
Stuck cylinder at Blackhawk race. Getting the cylinder back today. That means I have to work a half day today and head out to our local track and but the engine together and break it in and it looks like rain.
Check engine light came on the SUV this morning for what I hope it nothing, will just put some black tape over the light.
My two year old has been sick all week so sleeping hasn't been good and now I'm sick. Also will be bringing my wife this year instead of my brother who I've race with for all my years so that will be weird.
I just can't wait to get on the road tomorrow and get there. _________________ http://bridgemanbroskarting.blogspot.com/

Jason - the town is open and at your disposal all day Friday, however sadly police frown on karts on the track until the streets are close and the track is built.
Also, don't forget to get that King entry in ... you can't win if you don't enter.
Finally, I'm counting on you and your cohorts to hunt down Shipley and get him entered in the Old Fart shifter race ... since he's the one who started it all!
Just a reminder -- after TODAY entry fees jump $100 each.
Now if you don't mind, I have a few things to attend to. |
