Not sure what the Rotax book says about White Flags.

I can find no mention of white flags in the rotax rules. CIK Sporting regulations state:

"2.15 - Signification of flags
(k) White flag:
This flag should be waved and is used to indicate to the
Driver that there is a much slower vehicle on the sector of
track controlled by that flag point."

I failed to find any other mention of white flags in the CIK rules.

Although I do not have the CIK Rulebook in front of me, I believe that using CIK rules, the final lap is signalled by a 'Last Lap' board. I know that this is how they do it in Canada.

Rob,

That quote I posted came from the CIK sporting regulations.

In every form of kart racing I have been associated, when they have a red flag, it is always reverted to the last lap.

The race did not end on the checker, it ended on the red and checker flag on lap 20.

One example is the 1984 Monaco Grand Prix.

Look at the Video at the end and look at the flags. The race was scored on the privious lap

A better question is why was the senior race stopped a second time at all? It was already stopped once for rain and drivers were given a choice, rains or slicks. The race should have gone full distance.

You are correct.

They even had one driver on rain tires.

Cameron drove a great race and if he was dq'd for an oil seal in backwards that is too bad because it should have no performance advantage.

More than once I have raced past the checkered flag for an extra lap at speed. It is a terrible way to learn that lesson but you should race until you know the race is over and your competitors are also slowing down.

The Arrow karts work well but I wouldn't go so far as to say they are the best karts in the world for DD2. I struggled with my motor tuning and got beat on the straights. My kart was fast in the corners and slow on the straights. When I would come through the last turn before the finish perfect my kart would have a couple MPH on Brandon and all I could do is stay in his draft.

The brothers drove great, and it was a lot of fun racing with them. They deserve more credit than the Arrow. Kyle Ray was also a lot of fun to race with and very good on his home track. CRG had the fastest time of the race and broke up the Arrow domination. You will see CRG win a lot of races next year against the Arrow.[/code]

“Cameron drove a great race and if he was dq'd for an oil seal in backwards that is too bad because it should have no performance advantage.”

Cameron’s only mistake was taking his motor to the wrong shop to have motor work done. The Rotax shop certification program is a joke with no over sight of those shops by Rotax after they are certified. It should be the shop owner who is penalized not Cameron.

”More than once I have raced past the checkered flag for an extra lap at speed. It is a terrible way to learn that lesson but you should race until you know the race is over and your competitors are also slowing down.”

And where there two white flags thrown when that happen with you Curtis?
Where you of Minimax age?

These are just kids that they should be penalized for the mistake of adults is crazy in both cases.

An easy fix is hand out two fourth place finishes for MiniMax and two third place finishes for Rotax Jr.

They are just kids lets not sour them about this great sport because the adults in both cases dropped the ball.

If there were any teeth to the Rotax Shop Certification program chances of that happening to Cameron would have been greatly reduced as the shop owner would have maybe paid a bit more attention knowing his “inadvertant error” would cost him via a fine or loss of certification.

C'mon Curtis,
You know that it is the driver not the chassis that makes all the difference.
Congrats on making the team...

don johnson, the two white flags actually were thrown to my brother in a motocross race. He was Mini-max age and he never pulled off the track again until he saw the checkered flag.

The Rotax National is a tough race to learn a lesson like that but that is exactly what Mini-max drivers need to do, learn to race. I don't think Penske or Ganasi are scouting the Rotax National Mini-max class for there next driver, but maybe Ron Dennis is?

Putting the seal the wrong way is wrong. As always the driver has no fault but:

We believe that their is a performance issue by having the seal reversed.

Lets say for argument sakes that the service center did make a careless mistake, could imagine what other mistakes they also made?

Rotax should step up and take some action with all the tecnical DQ at the nationals.

Wow, everyone one sure threw this builder under the bus. Looks like seals are "user serviceable" from this diagram.

I know of only one dq under the seal. A squish infraction. The oil seal in question can be changed without breaking the engine seal (difficult but it can be done) and I agree with Andre it could be a minor performance advantage. All the other engine dq's I'm aware of were for items outside the engine seal.

As always, tech was very good and through.

I know of one more DQ of a piston put backwards.

I think that's under the seal, or maybe Joey can find a diagram...
