Thanks to all that came by the tent to congratulate then console Cameron and all of us. Cameron handeled it better than the rest of us.
The DQ was for an oil seal that was inverted upon instalation. no performance advantage of any sort.
Good luck to all of the US team wish we were going with you.
The Jocelyn Family |
Wow, your family, with Cameron at the forefront, are first class representatives of the sport of karting. I wasn't there, and I understand that rules and protocols need to be followed, but an inverted oil seal? Surely the race and tech directors understand "in the spirit of the rules"?
Congratulations to your whole family - we should all strive to follow your example.

Cameron, great job driving at the Rotax Nationals, you are a great friend and racing competitor, you deserve the kudos for all your hard work! Too bad they couldn't keep you on the podium and we are sorry for what happened and we we will see you racing at the next IKF race next month!
Your friend,

From what I understand the gears for the counter balance were not properly aligned. not sure of the exact specifics, but it was protested and shot down. |

Thanks to Billet Performance, BTK, Arrow USA and True North Motorsports for all the help. Finishing 1st and 2nd in DD2 is still setting in. Stuart and Brandon both drove flawless all day Saturday. _________________ Shayne Shipley

Shayne,
Between last years Rotax GN's & this year, there is NO question that the Arrow DD2 is simply the best package in the world! |

Congrats to Cameron, Taylor and the entire family and crew. They are ALL a class act.
Cameron has always been one of my favorite drivers and has proved he has the talent to run at the front of any field and would have given them Hell at the worlds. (Oh, and Taylor is my favorite starter too)
I feel your pain brother....It's too bad an inadvertant error would have such a high cost...
We'll have a big ol BBQ @ the next club race, I'll fire up the blender for you...We look forward to seeing you guys soon... _________________ Straightaways are for fast karts, corners are for fast drivers.... |

Every Rule Book that I have ever seen states that even though the it's not mandatory to display a White Flag; if you do display it, the White Flag "Must be followed by the Checkered Flag"
Not sure what the Rotax book says about White Flags. But once it is displayed, every driver on the track is expecting to see the race end on the very next lap. They are concentrating on racing for position on that final lap and not wondering if the Checkered Flag will be displayed, because it MUST BE displayed the next lap after the White Flag is displayed.
In all fairness, Rotax Officials should revert back to the lap after the White Flag was first displayed and use that as the final lap finishing order, no matter what the lap count was at that time. |

If Rotax runs under the CIK rules under my interpretation the senior race finished under a red flag therefore they should count the 19th lap as the final score.
Case C : 75% or more of the Race distance (rounded up to
the nearest whole higher number of laps). The karts shall
be sent directly to the Parc Fermé and the Race will be
deemed to have finished when the leading kart crossed the
Line at the end of the lap prior to that during which the
Race was stopped. Full points will be awarded. _________________ Andre Martins
