Just wondering what tires you run. I ran my first autocross this weekend and I was about 3 seconds off where I wanted to be. I figure 2 are in me learning how to drive and .5-.7 in the tires. I had Bridgestone YJB's in the back and Vega whites in the front(not enough time to put the front Bridgestones on).

I read that the YGX/YEX is a good tire, but what about a wet tire or dirt tire? I run at miller part which is smooth asphalt and it doesn't get terribly hot. What options are there for a 5" rim?

Thanks,
Roy

MG Greens were recommended when I asked this question. They have worked well for me. At one event I was forced to run on MG yellows (a medium compound tire) and was around three seconds off the pace.

3rd place at Nationals in 2006 was running on Vega Whites. They're not as slow as you might think.

The rest of the field was on MG greens.

They're just really hard to drive fast on if you're used to MGs. Razz

Are the mg greens available for 6'' rims or do they only make them for
5'' rims? I started to autocross my shifter kart with Dunlop tires(DCS)
and thinking tires with a little more grip would be a good thing.

as a ref going from those dunlops (DCS) to MG greens I had to increase my rear track by 3/4 inch per side... there is absolutely no comparison in grip, the greens will get to temp even in 60 degree weather in NE
