Does anyone know where a good and cheap place to purchase a nitrogen tank and regulator?

Try a local welding supply shop -- they should be able to set you up.

We just rent ours when we need it at the track. from Air Liquide, the tank cost us a big 5.20 from July 16-31. That way we don't have to store the thing all the time. Same thing for my helium tank for parties

I just priced one here yesterday, for 304 cubic feet it was $200 dollars for the tank, $75 dollars for the regulator, and $26 dollars to refill it. No one in the Omaha, NE area rents them out .

So much for cheap. Someone mentioned to me that they rented one for $3.30 cents a month, wish I could find out from where. Let you know when I do.

Rob:
Gas supply shops have two plan an annual lease for the tank or a monthly rental for the tank.

I have my tank on an annual lease for about $50. My refill cost is in the area of $30 but the lank last 1 1/2 seasons we just keep the tank in the trailer all the time. The regulator is from the same shop and when the person understood our application was kind enough to find us a used regulator for only $30.

The shop may have quoted you a monthly rental proce which is far more expensive than an annual lease.

I do not know the cubic feet capacity on my tank but is is about 5 feet tall and 12 inches in diameter.

Here in Colorado you can not own anything but the small tank. When you need to fill it, you exchange it for a full one, about $18.00. For us it lasts about 2 months. The larger tanks will last much longer but you have to take them on an annual lease, and about $50 is common. Again you just exchange them when you need to fill it. Make sure you have the cap with you when you go to exchange as they will gaff you for an extra $10 bucks for a new one.

The best bet for a regulator is to get a cheap oxygen regulator, around $80 to $100 new. The exit fitting is 1/4 pipe and you can remove it to put on a quick disconnect. Be careful as the fitting from the factory is very tight and you can destroy the regulator getting it out.

Just about any industrial welding supply house should have everthing you need.
