Check out the SKUSA Mountain page at WWW.SKUSAonline.com
I think most of the information you need is there.

Anything other than what was posted at the start of the season is darn near criminal. We made plans based on the schedule submitted back in January?. I won't adjust national level plans for a regional event. Rumor has it the race on the 29th is a double points event as well. Last I checked the drivers voted for either Bandimere or the new Grand Junction Track as a make up. Someone over turn this decision without our input? Regional support will diminish if the regions follow the national example and change rules after the fact, especially a week before the event. BTW whoever is running the Mountain region, I didnt receive an email nor a phone call regarding this 'proposed' change in the schedule. There arent a lot of Mountain Region racers, so all of you in the populated regions, don't think I'm making an outrageous request. |

Phil
The rumor that the July 29 race is double points is just that, a rumor with no basis in fact. Any one who is spreading it has never talked with any person who has any idea of what is going on.
There are often changes in the schedule that are caused by factors outside the control of the organziers. The weather related cancellation early this year forced some changes to be made. Additionally, disputes with a track owner or governing bodies also may require changes to be made. There are many reasons that a schedule will need to be changed over the course of the season. It happens at all levels of motorsports.
I was at the track the day they asked us if we wanted to use the Grand Junction track for the make up race lost due to weather this year. If I remember correctly, Chuck said he would investigate the possibility. Talking with Grady yesterday, I got the impresion that we would not be going to Grand Junction nor would the Bandimere race be re-scheduled. The calender is winding down for this year and there just isn't time for it. There is no time in August or September for it and while the weather is great in Grand Junction in October, we have to cross two mountian passes to get there and it will be winter there. In many persons eyes, including mine, it is not worth the risk.
The double points thing at Sandia was pushed by the national office, not the regions. You are right to say that the racers didn't have any imput on that. Neither did anyone in the mountain region organization. I do know that Grady and Glen are seeking a clearification on exactly how the double points thing will work. Once they have that information, I'm sure they will get it to you.
Please remember this, the Sandia race is organized by the Canyon region, not the mountain region. They are the ones in control of the race. The mountain region can assist them in getting information to the racers but thats about it. If you have any needs for information, I strongly suggest that you talk with Grady.

On the other hand, you may wish to call me at 505-299-2202. Do not leave a message!
Please under stand that I can not return any calls at this time. If the telephone rings more than three time's just hang up and try back latter. I am extremely busy trying to answers all the questions. My hopes are that folks will come and enjoy a great track and meet some new friends, with fabulous racing. This is the Canyon Regions first year and there will be a glitch here and there.
This is not an apology. There is a tremendous effort going on to make this a successful event. To pull this off is a very arduous, time consuming with very little thanks from any one! PLEASE be patient.
Canyon Region Director

As I have said before, this is total BS. Regardless there is at least some information. The following is an excerpt from a post I did a couple weeks ago on TKWS, and my interpretation of the answers so far:
1. Why a 3 day event. Properly run, it could be done in 1 day with maybe an optional practice day on Saturday.
NO ANSWER. BEST I CAN TELL IS SO THEY CAN ADVERTISE THAT IT IS ONLY $76.66 PER DAY, LIKE THIS IS SOME KIND OF DEAL! I AM NOT USED TO SPENDING $80 ON A PRACTICE DAY. EVEN THE LONG TRACK HERE IN COLORADO (SECOND CREEK) ONLY CHARGES ABOUT $25-$30 FOR A PRACTICE DAY.
2. Is it double points or not? Is this decions final or is it open for appeal?
LOOKS LIKE THE ANSWER IS YES, AND THE DECISION WAS MADE BETWEEN THE CANYON REGION AND SKUSA NATIONAL....UNBELEIVABLE!!!
3. If it is double points, do you think it will be announced officially sometime before the race?
HAS BEEN ANNOUCED ON SKUSA WEBSITE.
4. Why didn't the Mountain Region have any say on a change in points structure for our region?
NO ANSWER
5. If we don't go does it count as one or two of our drops?
NO ANSWER
6. What is the format, is it 2 mains like the promoto in S-1 or one main with double points.
NOT SURE? THERE ARE MAINS LISTED ON BOTH SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. I GUESS SATURDAY COUNTS AS ONE AND SUNDAY AS ONE, BUT IT IS ONLY A GUESS.
7. How will our regional points be determined. Will it be based on our finishing position against those from our region or based on our finishing position vs. all the regions.
LOOKS LIKE POINTS ARE BASED UPON YOUR FINISH VS. OTHERS FROM YOUR REGION ONLY.
TIM, SINCE YOU SEEM TO BE THE ONE MAKING THE DECISIONS, COULD YOU TAKE TIME TO PROVIDE SOME ADDITIONAL ANSWERS/CLARIFICATIONS FOR US. (SINCE I DON'T REALLY HAVE THE TIME TO KEEP TRYING TO CALL YOU, AND NOT LEAVE A MESSAGE.) |

I doubt very much if there will be any racing of any kind going on in Grand Junction this season, so the makeup race doug mentioned will have to be elsewhere.
I heard from 3 different sources last week that the owners of the proposed track have run afoul of the city gov and construction has ceased for the time being. They haven't even got the asphalt down yet.
One person I spoke to commented that if we ever see a race on the West Slope it will be a miracle. Damn shame, really.

| Hi Guys, wanted to give everyone an update on the GRAND JUNCTION TRACK, At this point the track is in with grading and sub-base down, the grid area is to be finished and as soon as we have our permit on September 11, we will start paving on the 12th, 2 weeks to cure and we should be driving by Oct 1st. we hope everyone will be patient and look foward to hosting any event we can. We are going to try to have a small 4 race series this fall so that we can get familiar with the karting world (we are old dumb retired motocrossers) but should catch on pretty quickly. We would appreciate any suggestions that anyone might have to make sure that this is one of the premier facilities in the country. Please contact us at dirtbroker@aol.com Thanks, Stacey Cook, Grand Junction Motor speedwayGRAND JUNCTION |

Jeff,
Look at the post, his name is there (Jeff Cook). They were at IMI on Sunday racing, and seemed like nice guys. From their description the track sounds nice 9/10th of a mile and 32 feet wide. It would be nice to find a decent track in Colorado.

Stacy
Please use my email address or post it here to let us know when your track is up and running. I'm sure several of us will want to the make the trek over the hills to try it out.
