Racing last weekend and had to pull in, due to a HOT seat. The rear brake was smoking, it was so hot, and made the seat extremely uncomfortable. Did not look like the piston stuck on the rotor. Has anybody experienced this before or have suggestions on how to fix?

I've only had one time where my Birel brakes overheated. What we did was bought some dryer hose (about 4" I think) and zip tied it to the sidepod and radiator and radiator bracket pointing the end of the hose down right above the rotor. Helped a lot. Kinda looked like a WC car but it's better than no brakes.

| Thanks Drew. I am assuming this is something that does not happen very often, due to the lack of responses to the post. Has anybody else experienced this or something similiar? Your input is needed, thanks. |

You need to take your foot of the brake.

I hade a simaler situation where my rear brake was overheating. It turned out to be the set screws came out of the axle bearings and the only thing keeping the axle from sliding side to side was the brake rotor
Needless to say I now use red locktite and a cable tie around the hub to make sure they don't come out.

Hmmm... good point. I do trail brake going into the corners, but most of the time, I do lift off the brake exiting the corner and driving down the straight. I know I was hard on the brakes at Springfield, but did not think they would overheat.
Could brake pads have caused this? I believe I am using stock Birel pads. ??? |

The only time Drew's brakes overheated was at a track where everybody was having brake problems. It was hot and apparently the track was hard on brakes. If you are the only one experiencing brake problems, then I'd have to say that there's a problem somewhere, not just simply hot brakes. Are you over the weight limit? Are you using the brake and the gas at the same time? Are you just using them too much? Or did a competitor take a blowtorch to your rotor in order to sabatoge it before the race?
Oh wait, you're on a CR32. That's a 125, right. Is your brake bias correct? That might be the most likely culprit. |

And the winner is Micheal!
I checked the set screws on my axle and only ONE screw holding the axle on, all the other ones must have came loose and fell off. This caused the axle/rotor to move and the rub against the pad. Thanks for everybodies help. |
