| Boy, this topic really opened up a can of worms. Again, I was just wondering if there were a cheaper source for since we all know that it is the most expensive part of kart racing. S. Clark- I hope you were not referring to me as one of the "tight wads" who expect ya'll to stock all these parts for us and sell'em at cost. I dont think anyone expects that. Is $180 the status quo? If it is then I'll just keep buying my tires from my friend who also sold me the $350 alfano, the redline oil, the infared sensor, etc. If I can get them for $150-160, then its only logical that I would shop around. Calling potential customers "tight wads" is about as assinine as racers referring to dealers as "fat cat" shop owners who are just in it for the money. Jeez, All I wanted to know was if there were some competively priced tires, and there are, almost all by private individuals selling their spares. Every body needs to take a deep breath and relax. |

As a customer, if you want to get the good price on tires, you must be willing to buy a bunch at one time. (4+ boxes)
It costs time and money for shop owners to sell you just one set of tires, and they have to pay the rent.
If you expect a good deal on tires, make is easy on the shop or dirtibutor. If all they have to to is pick up a phone, and have some cases drop shipped and they can make a few bucks with no time invested, you can get a great deal. Figure out how many tires you use in a year, buy em all at once. If you are not willing to do that, don't bitch about the price you have to pay. Simple as that. |

Did I say that? I agree but I don't remember saying it. Maybe there is another person here with a last name like mine...yeah right. |

Through all of the content on this post NOBODY has indicated what is considered a FAIR price for the tires that Terry needs. I don't know if anyone has contacted him privately or not but help the guy out. I don't think that he is trying to prevent his dealer from making some $$ as he knows that the shop isn't a charity, they are a business. I would like to know what is a fair price myself on some YGC's. To give you an idea of my customer loyalty, I have bought all new equipment including a chassis, blueprinted KT100, Drack, and a TON of parts from one source. Keep in mind that I just ran my first organized race this past weekend. How much cash will I spend over the next few years just of replacement parts with a dealer that treats me right? Anyone of the shop owners thta would like to contact me with some pricing on tires privately would be fine. I would just like to know that the guy who's business I help to support is taking care of me with a resonable amount of profit built in for himself. Also, please don't tell me about all the shop support at the track and that kind of stuff because the place I bought all of my equipment from doesn't even run in the sprint series. I hope I don't sound like too much of a jerk |

| If Bonnier at Msquared carried tires, I would have never even brought up the subject. I have bought almost everything since the kart from him and his dad and they, by far, have the best customer service in the biz and would never tell someone that if you dont buy in bulk to quit bitching. I would love to be able to buy a box at a time, how many sets in a box? Do I need to dole out a grand at a time to save $25 per set? Would that even make sense? Comet sells the tires I use for about $165, someone gave me that lead and it was a good one. Thats what I was looking for, not all this name calling. Lets just drop it. |

Terry, glad you found a good source for tires. Oddly, nobody has contacted me with any good pricing on YGC's after my spastic post...I just don't understand why To the dealers who read my post and said "What a jerk" (that is the kind version) I apologize but after reading posts that buddies get better pricing or to buy in bulk I guess I just got a little ticked. I just feel like I do buy in bulk, bulk CASH, as they got plenty of it over the past year and I would like to know that I get a good deal weather I buy 4 sets of tires or 4 tires. I do want the dealer to make $$ on the sale, that way he will still be there when I need more parts down the road.
P.S. - You better watch it Tony...because they are watching YOU! |

Mike,
I believe Bill Wright @ FormulaKart has an awesome price on YGB's & YGC's right now. From what I have read here, his price is cheaper than any have posted so far. He can be reached at (850)265-1041. I hope this helps...

Okay Terry because I have not real life and can spen time on this dang thing I think I can give you some ranges I found for whats it worth. No let me cut to the chase - IN MY OPINION - if you are buying one set at a time expect 165.00 for low end to 195.oo high. THat is what I found. Once you get into buying buying by the cases you can lower that figure - which is a good idea that was suggested. I know when I buy it is usually a minimum of three sests so I can help out the shop and help my pocket book. I am the odd ball here I guess because I have found myself getting Maxxis tire this season and have enjoyed the performance and the cost. When I do step back to the SKUSA series I will invest in BRidgestones it appears.
Hope that helps |

Mark-
Thanks for the info. I used to run Maxxis a few years ago, but havent yet this season. I used to run the hg4, is that similar to the yfa tire? Comet has good prices on those also, so I'll be checking into it. |
