Looking at getting back into an 80 shifter and looking at a few different karts. A couple of which have programable ignitions. What are the rules with 80 shifters and non-stock ignitions? I will be racing from Kerman to Redding. Are these ignitions allowed in NCK road racing? how about the sprint tracks in this area? I know P.C. doesn't allow them, but how about everywhere else?

Thanks,

John

John, hard to find any info on that, except I also know that about Prairie City. Try scrolling down in the following link and e-mail one or some of the directors or even better the Director of Shifter Operations: http://www.norcal-karting.com/faq/whois/whois_norcal.html
Hope that helps.

John,
All the tracks in NorCal (except PC) follow the IKF rule book. So the PI is legal as per the IKF book.

PI's are allowed in the IKF F80 Sr and the SKUSA K Classes, but illegal on the NCK80 class.

BTW, I don't use one and still able to run upfront...though the results may not show it

IKF allows no lift shift PI and SKUSA does not.

Well, I was planning on running the NCK 80 road race class, but plan on doing some sprinting too. Just how big of a difference does to PI make? I've been under the assumption (probably a wrong one)that since we are dealing with such a small amount of HP that everything that can be used can make a noticable difference. Also, how does the PI affect the reliablity of the engine, as well as the durability?

Thanks in advance,

John
