Hello again.
After my first race (Missed practice, decided to race first time out ), I decided to get a data logger/display. (My Chron2). I have EGT, Water temp, RPM, and MPH.
What are the normal/critical temeratures/RPM? Normal is to set-up for and try to stick to... Critical would be the point when motor seizes.

I can help with some...
We don't have EGT, so I don't know there.
Normal water temp should be between 130-140 degrees. I don't know how high the temp would go before the engine seizes, but if you go over 160, I'd make a change.
RPM depends on if you have an 80 or a 125. 13500 is normal for an 80, don't know for critical. A 125 is a bit lower, 12500-13000 maybe?

The answer to your question is motor specific, but here are some ranges.
EGT, if installed 6 inches from the piston, runs 1150-1250 F. Higher is stuck motor. Water temp 120-140 F, above 170 becomes bad.
RPM is hard since the MYCHRON gives you the peak which tends to be over-rev during a down shift. To get real useful numbers you need to down load the data to a computer and observe the real peak RPM you used. Typical CR-80 numbers are 12.8-13.2.

John, are you saying My Chron2 does not have "real time" RPM? That was the first reason I got My Chron, see RPM's while driving... I was going to a point of engine cutting out a few times, and thought it would not last long, so I invested in My Chron, it would be real bad if I cant look down while racing and see the current RPM

| Mike, What John is telling you is the MyCron shows only PEAK rpm after your run. Which was probably downshifting before a turn. It will allways show heads up full range rpm. Greg |

The MyChron 2 shows only peak when you press the mem button, however, you can "cycle" through the data of the entire lap if you press it a few times and watch the data from that lap go by.... this should let you see if your max RPM's were under a shift point, bump or on the straightaway.
