Oil change and more ???

I ran my shifter for the first time last Sunday. (What a rush!) It's a 2000 Tracy with a CR125. This morning I go to change the gear oil like a good little racer and I'm having the hardest time getting the drain plug off. If I come at it from the side, there doesn't seem to be enough room to get a wrench on because of the frame rail. From underneath, I can't get a socket on because there's this annoying case seam right next to the plug. Very frustrating!!!

What am I missing? Do I have to loosen the motor mount and lift the engine to get in there? Is there some trick to this that I don't know about? And what size wrench fits the drain plug?

While I have your attention, here's another question. My carb (Keihin) has these 2 plastic lines that come out of one side of the carb, arch over the top, and go back in on the other side. Each of these lines has a hole cut into it at the peak of the arch.

What are these lines and why are the lines pierced?

Try moving your motor one way or the other to get the drain plug as clear as you can. We simply use a 17mm socket to loosen. If you are still having problems, then maybe contact Zartarian at Energy/Paul Tracy in Carlsbad, Ca. and ask for his suggestion. As for those lines...they are vent lines. You only need one, that connects the two sides together. The "cut" is for air. Do Not block the line, or your motor will not run. Have fun!

Easier way to get the oil out if you cannot easily access the drain plug is to simply take out the 5 or 6 side cover bolts and pull the cover off (it reads honda) have a pan ready.

Yikes!!! Pull off the side plate? Ingenious, but it does sound messy.

Actually, I finagled the drain plug off last night. It seems that what I thought was a case moulding seam, is in fact a crossbrace tube on the motor mount. I undid the bolts and slid it to the side, giving me room to get a socket on the drain plug.

Oil change accomplished. But it seems like an awkward set-up. The motor mount is from AMCRACING. Anybody familiar with this mount? Is there a better way to do this than slide the tube/brace aside every time and then realign it by guess and by God?

PSR makes a very nice motor mount. I have no issues accessing the drain on my CR-80.
