Some were wondering where Charlie was. I found him. Actually, he found me. Here's a note he asked me to post:
(from Charlie Tackett)
I've been on vacation in our little one room log cabin in the woods of Michigan's UP. Got the ol' laptop working, but any connections other than to the 200 people living in the town 5 miles from camp is a long distance call. Because of that I have been trying to keep my on line time to an absolute minimum...just enough of a daily fix to keep me from going into the throws of a complete cold turkey withdrawl! Unfortunately, with the forums format, most everything is done online...whichfrom here is costly.
That's the primary reason I haven't been online hardly at all in the TKWS forums, nor have I signed on to these new forums. The other reason ( one which you'll find hard to believe coming from me) is that I was speechless and at a loss of what to say after Pete's announcment. Incredible, eh? Kinda like in a NASCAR race after a crash and they piece a car back together so the guy can go out and run around on the apron, just trying to hold on until the checker finally falls and it's over. I kinda felt like that guy cruising around on the apron in a way.
Unfortunately, vacation will be over in a few more days and it will be back to civilization with no more long distance access charges. I haven't cruised around the net, but this site does seem to be the most viable option for attempting to relocate and re-establish the community that the TKWS site had created over the years.

Glenn, I justed to elaborate on what Charlie said about TKWS, Community and this website.
As most know TKWS will be shut down by months end, But what we need to understand and listen to Pete himself is that these sites are not just hardware and software, they are people, A community. It is this community and its spirit that endures. It will not perish, it may be spread a little thinner, but in do time the spirit will grow and our appetite for communication with other karters be satisfied.
