| hi I have read parts of the Scca rulebook and can't find where it talks about how many points or events qualify you for nationals? does anybody know? I'm thinking about joining a region where I am the only entry and would like to do as few races as possible to get into Nationals. The other question I have is if I make it too nationals can I switch the Kart I am racing? I have a rotax, but would prefer to rent a shifter for the nationals, so I can be competitive as well as preserve my Rotax. |

You don't have to do any to go to nationals. There are two ways to do it.
1) Run a national event or Divisional.
2) Pay a fee. I think its $75-100.
Most of the time you'll save money to just pay the fee than go to one of the events. |

oh ok, doesn't it also have to do with the number of entrants at nationals? I thought they were limted to 30 Karts? |

| Nope. There are no entry limits at nationals. I think there were 50 something in some classes in the past couple of years. |

There has not been performance-based qualifying for the SCCA Solo Nationals for 20 years. You can "qualify" by running a National Tour or Divisional Championship event, or just pay that waiver fee.
There IS qualifying for the Pro Solo Finale, however. A driver has to run at least two Pro events. Points in class are based on the best two finishing positions of the first three entered in 2006. There have in the past been a few slots available in September for a few drivers who ran only one Pro during the year, but no guarantee, of course.

So you know, normally I've done at least a Tour or Divisional, but this year both my wife and I are paying the waiver fee since it will be cheaper.
I know it's early, but let's start encouraging people to sign up to make a HUGE F125 class this year, especially on smooth asphalt. We already know that should bring some karters back to Topeka!
On a similar subject, talk the wives, girlfriends, significant others, or just women you know, into running F125 Ladies. In the past it's been a tiny class. Now that my wife is running there, I'll be campaigning for a larger class to run with.
I know not every woman enjoys the kart, but see if they'll give it a shot. My wife, at 105lbs, LOVES it and is very excited for Nationals already.

I'll be there as long as the van doesn't breakdown on the way. The real test is going to be getting to DC and back. My girlfriend thinks the kart is dangerous. |

That's my point. My wife is a petite little 5'1" 105lb woman, it can't be THAT scary. Tell your girlfriend that you know a husband and wife, with young kids, running the same karts. Of course, I guess she'd just think we're nuts
Then again, the kids drive too
