With the great interest in the Washington D.C. Region, I'm curious as to other SCCA Regions that have a large contingent of F125 drivers.

The D.C. Region is currently at nine drivers/owners with a couple more expected. Plus possibly one transplant (Strauss)? Razz

I'm assuming there's big groups in Vegas and L.A.?

Detroit Region had 5 representative at Nationals, well two of them live in SE Michigan but call NW-Ohio their home SCCA region. Next season I will have a new co-driver who should make an appearance at Nationals. And I just spoke with another person who's very close to buying a former solo kart. Then there is that former CM Nationals trophy winner who has a kart and occasionally comes out to play, even at a Pro this past year.

It's possible we could have 9-10 drivers at our local events, assuming we have a site to play...

San Francisco Region has about 5 drivers- myself, Pete Mottaz, Cu Lu, Mitch Fagundes and John Burns. We all ran a lot of local events, and Pete and I usually run all the National events on the West Coast, plus Nationals.

Lately, it's been sounding to me like we should have a considerable better turnout for East Coast National events, with D.C. and Atlanta adding some people. Of course, now we just need some National sites...

I'm looking forward to fort myers tour in february. I hope some of you other east coast guys will make it down there. Atlanta should have 3-4 drivers at that event.

Of all the F125 drivers in this region, only two of us have extensive time in a shifter to drive an event that early in the season. Most, if they did that event, would be driving one for the first time!
So, I'm not sure it's going to happen. But, if we can get some lucky warm days before now and then, it's possible.

Plus, it's a LONG drive.

I really wish that the program of having a Pro and Tour on successive weekends was still viable. In 2000 and 01, It was Ft.Myers Pro, then Meridian, MS Tour. Then both events were held in FL for 2002 and 03. The last year, it was Tour then Pro, and ideal sequence for me.

Hey, it helped that my sons school winter break coincided with the week between autocrosses. The days off in between events left time for touristy things like Disney, the Everglades, and Kennedy Space Center, and a day at a track for fun and practice.

I can't see towing all the way to southern Florida for a single weekend Tour. Bring back the Tour then Pro format, Gulf Coast Autocrossers!

Well Alan, you're sort of getting your wish. With Ft Meyers/Miami (if Miami happens) and the Walnut Ridge combo, you've got 2 out of 3 East Coast dual events.

I fully plan on making Walnut Ridge (already booked my hotel!), Peru, and D.C.
It appears that there may be as many as 3-4 D.C. drivers will run National events.

Florida is out for me, because it's too early for me to have the kart dialed in and, well, I don't want to go to Miami. Walnut Ridge should be perfect. I'll have seat time all three weekends prior to event!

I guess I should be careful what I ask for???
While Miami is not the side of the state I'd prefer to be on, it might do. What is then necessary for me to make the journey is: Competition! Anyone interested in making the at least the first PRO of the year? If I travel to FL from Michigan, it would be for Both weekends, not just one. I'll be checking my sons' school break dates. Brian, the week between the dates is for track days to get "Dialed In!"

And If you say Arkansas (Walnut Ridge) is East, I guess that is sorta in the general direction... I'll go back and look at the proposed schedule again. Anyway, if DC happens, and I don't have a schedule conflict, plan on my running for the entire weekend there, instead of just one day like last time.

EXCEPT THAT:

It looks like Miami might not happen... That's the buzz, that the SCCA jumped the gun on the schedule posting (I know they did for D.C.) and in this case listed events that may not happen.

Count on me at the other three though. And I'll hopefully be bring a couple of others.

We've now got 10 paid for the season and registered in F125. There are two more paid for the season in other classes that say they are buying a kart.

Now we just need to make this kind of showing Nationally!

We're building a SuperKart Solo program at the Denton TX track we'll see how it works out. We have an SCCA Solo Region here but we think the SuperKart Solo program may offer a little better package.

The format is a little different from a typical Solo. using a 1/2 mile kart track we've extended to over a mile by using a cut through 1/2 way into the second lap that loops you back for 3/4 lap in the opposite direction. No sea of cones to get lost in.

When a driver goes out on track they take one full non-timed warmup lap. Then they take their timed lap. There are 3 sessions of warm-up and timed laps.

Shifters run a standing start. TAGs take a rolling start. Lap times work out pretty equal.

SuperKart Solos could spread to other tracks. We'll see.

That's pretty cool, John. I think the name might scare the SCCA folks a bit...but it sounds a lot like what used to be called a SoloI or locally a Solo 1 and 1/2. Neat stuff.

On topic...it looks like LA region will still have about 4-5 regular drivers, three of which are new to karts.
