Not being at home right now to look for myself, which set of holes creates more ackerman? The outside or the inside holes? (running OEM TonyKart Mitox spindles) Thanks!

| The inner set of holes on the axles will increase Ackerman. If your kart is like mine it may also have adjustments on the steering column. The outer holes there will increase Ackerman. I am running mine on the outer holes on the column and the middle holes (3 holes on my kart) on the axles. I'm still curious what others are running or have tried and what the results were. I haven't had much testing since I made this change. All of the events I have run so far have been with parallel steering and I don't think that is the right way to set it up for autocross. I didn't want to jump right to the max setting either. Anyone else have any experience trying the different settings for autocross? |

Really? I didn't even notice when I drove it at the Tour back in June. Most karts I've seen have at least some ackerman. I use the offset holes on the steering shaft of my old Birel. Combine that with running a wide front end, I've got very quick steering turn-in.
I like it that way, though. Maybe I didn't notice it on your kart because of the course we drove there. That wide-open, all fast sweeper course really didn't need any ackerman.
Just a thought.

| Does anybody have any pictures of using the inner holes on the steering column. I've been looking at my kart and don't see how the two tie rod ends would fit in the same place. This would be trying to get 0 ackerman. |

I noticed it more on the Pro course which was a lot tighter. I had originally just been driving the kart the way it came, now that I am more used to it I want to make some changes. I really didn't like the way it handled on the tighter course and I think some more Ackerman will help.
Ryan, on my kart there are spacers around the rod ends. To use the center hole you can remove the spacers and stack them so they both share the same hole on the column. |

Ryan, one would sit ontop of the other. At least thats how I did it on mine. |

There are usually some spacers on the tie rod bolts at the steering shaft end. Taking out all the spacers will usually give JUST enough room to put both ends on the same bolt. Depending on some angles there, the steering shaft can rub on the nuts that lock the tie rod ends... unscrewing them. Check them often when running this configuration.

Michael Fiyak and I compete in the Tennessee Valley Region. I just started this year, but Michael has been at ift for two years I believe. As soon as Shelton Wright turns 16 he will be the third shifter in our region.
I guess we need to make a trip down to Atlanta and play?

My dad and I will be running the kart next year when I turn 16 in Atlanta. In the meantime we will run at the track.
