I'll post a link on the relevant sites. This is a good sign that the Solo market for karts is growing...I know a lot of autocrossers have been buying shifters in the last year and everybody I know is just loving it.

Maybe a rundown of the Nationals would be a good post?

Well, so far my wife an I are on schedule to get karts soon, just gotta sell that MINI first...
At that point, we'll be a family of four Solo Kart drivers!

I just got my kart a few weeks ago. Still trying to get everything running right and everything nice and clean from the previous owner. It'll be a little different than the STS civic I've been driving. So far its a lot of fun and beats working on a car.

I also just go a kart for auto-x. Im in ATL region with Ryan. Coming from a B stock 350z it's a big change, mostly due to the extreme bumpiness of our local parking lots. The kart is so much more fun it reminds me of my first year auto-xing a car and how much fun I had learning to go fast. I really look forward to taking the kart to some national events in 06 and seeing how I fare. My immedate goal is to sell the Z and buy a econoline van so I can take the kart and all the extra junk I need to out of town events.

The bumpyness really can get to be a problem - after a few runs, I find my arms start to bother me from trying to control the wheel around bumpy corners.

I was also having a problem with scraping that disappeared after I raised the front spindles...

A huge problem of autox is learning the track... At the scca events I recently ran, they made me run first, so I bore the brunt of the learning curve... My first event out was pitiful... I remember gaining over 10 secs between my worst and best runs... I am currently running an 80 shifter on an 01 BRM chassis...

I figured I'd jump in here too... My son Matthew and I have just bought a kart to go autocrossing in also. We'll be running in Atlanta with Ryan and Andrew (yea, me too Andrew!!).

Matthew and I both will be at the '06 Nationals. I haven't decided if I'll run the FM F500 (#140) I drove this year or the kart, but Matthew will definitely be in the kart.

It's nice to see a dedicated section on the forum to talk about Solo issues. For those that don't know, Ryan also finished 5th in STS this year!! Congrats Ryan!

I've very excited to see some more East Coasters/Atlanta people. The Atlanta Pro Solo had zero karts for the last two years, let's make sure THAT changes if Atlanta happens again, or at least wherever in the Southeast.

The West coast has always been known to have lots of karts, so they do well in attendance at their events. With more southeasters, we should be able to hit that five+ minimum for Pro Solos. The Pros are a blast, be sure to give them a try for 2006!

I ran Pro Solo's in my ESP car this year and last and they are a lot of fun.

I'm hoping my experience in F500's will help to shorten the learning curve for autocrossing a kart.

There will definately be more of us at the pro this year if we get one. I was just planning on road racing my kart, but after how much fun I had with it at the auto-x this weekend I am reconsidering. I'll much more prefer the prosolo format to the national tour format with the kart. With my civic I was driving last year launching wasn't a big thing. In the kart thats half the fun in it.

I'm really glad to see more F125's in the East too. I've run a number of the larger events over the years, and early on was often alone in the class. I was originally planning on the Atlanta Pro two years ago, but whenI found out it was set for February, nixed the idea. Good thing, too. The rain at that event (along with the cold temps) would have made running a kart inpossible.

Least year I had a scheduling conflict. But I did not feel bad when I saw that I'd have been stuck without even a Mod Index class to run with. Atlanta is a really long drive to make to compete against myself. I'll be planning on the Pro there if it happens this year.
