An 11 year old girl in CA is very sad today because the trailer with her karts and equipment was stolen from her driveway sometime Sunday night. The trailer was recovered (stripped of course)but the karts and engines are still missing. Please be on the lookout for the following stolen equipment:
Top Kart Cadet chassis with Kawasaki 60cc shifter engine (SN 99970-0017E). Kart has red bodywork, Harris Racing clutch lever and chrome pipe.
Top Kart Cadet chassis with red bodywork.
Three Comer K80 engines with markings EK308 (also marked #29 and KA1073), EK326 (also marked #131 and KA1005 or 1105), and 117.
One Yamaha KT100 engine marked EK518. Has small carb for Rookie Sportsman.
If you see any of these, please contact Empire Karts at (909)793-9695

I'm so sorry! Last year almost to the day someone broke into our shop in MN and stole my 12 year old daughter's kart and one motor. For some reason they left the other 2 girl's karts and motors, but believe me I know how you feel. Check with the local pawn shops and put up signs. We never recovered anything, but at least it makes you feel better to try to do something. BTW a guy who races the other series in our area, who we don't know at all, saw one of our signs, called and offered to loan us a kart he wasn't using--there are some decent people out there!

Wow. Must be steal the Girls Stuff month or something. On Oct. 2 someone broke in to our business and took a ton of our equipment, including my motors, tires, air compressor, etc. etc. BUT!! The bonehead parked on a side street and the cops saw him loading up his Honda with my stuff at 4am and when they pulled up behind him he jumped in his car and started a high speed chase. Ended up going 2 blocks over, and turning back into a residential area, and he drove himself into a telephone pole. HOORAY! So we got everything back. Not too long ago the other Deb on this list, Deb Kuntze had her stuff stolen too, the entire trailer, but she got it back, although alot of it was damaged.
Sorry to hear about this theft, will keep my eyes out for the equipment!

That sucks. Also sorry to hear your news, Deb, as I live in the same area!!!
This post is motivating me to send in my application for off-track insurance from K&K.
I have no affiliation with them and maybe the cost is prohibitive, but insurance seems like an option we should all explore.
My regular insurance agent told me on the pohone today that homeowner's/rental insurance doesn't cover motorized vehicles. Translation: karts and equipment NOT covered. |

| Thanks for good neighbors! A guy was trying to break into my trailer, it wouldn't have done him any good, it was fairly empty and alarmed. My neighbor saw him and clothes lined him so hard across the back of the neck it knocked the guy out of his shoes, and he pissed his pants. The guy got off with a slap on the wrist though, no fines, time, or sorries. It may not help from some one stealing the whole trailer, but I made an alarm using an old boat battery, car horn, pair of normally open door switches, and an outside barrel key switch. Crude but effective. |

| We had our trailer broken into last week, thankfully, we had taken everything out and the only damage was a broken lock and bent shackle. There is another insurance agency out there that will write storage and transport coverage, its called WSIB and the gentlemens name is Dick Preston @623.925.0100. They may not be licensed in your state, but he has been very helpful in getting a policy written for us. It isn't cheap but when you start adding up what we have invested in chassis, engines, special tools, spare parts, trailer it is a small fraction |

It seems like a lot of thefts involve trailers. I was over at PSR a couple of months ago and they were busy installing Dead Bolts in the doors! Now that's a great idea. Are there any other way to secure a trailer?
Also, are the theives able to defeat tongue locks?

The creep who took our stuff is still in jail! But that's because there is a manditory 6 months, no exception on police chases, so if he had not run, he would probably be back out doing his thing in hours, instead of months.
His car (front end totaled from the telephone pole crash) was also impounded, and is incurring fees each day it sits there . We got every item back, in its original packaging, right out of his car on the scene... thanks to the LAPD Harbor Division! |

Best of luck in your recovery, Sharon.
I'm not sure about your particular circumstance, but it's important to remind everyone not to store the really expensive equipment in your trailer permanently. I realize there are times you can't avoid this. However, the risks are high when things are store on a permanent basis.
We will certainly help and be on the lookout here in Texas |
