I am heading out to The 24 hour Daytona Race!
I am the fuel guy at pit stops.
We have the fastest fueling system out there( 34 sec to refuel).
The other teams are taking 45 sec.
I will be close to the door where the drivers get in and out.
I just might bitch slap one and jump into the seat.
OK I know ....I can hear the coments now...
Oh well Just watch maybe Walley and George can keep us up front.
As for the other 2 "drivers" They need to step it up a knotch.(8 Sec).
74 Ranch Resort Daytona Prototype.

Good luck to your car. _________________ David Bauder

Hey Randy-
If you see Carl, Mark or Chris from Cooper Tire (Johnny and Walley's sponsors) - tell them I said hello.
Looks like I can make it out east side of the state on the 12th (or whatever day that saturday is) - so email me and let me know.
Good luck to the 74 ranch team in TONA! _________________ "Luck is when Preparation meets Opportunity"

I am Back WOW what a Riot!
The Weather was the best I ever had at a 24 and it was the First time
the car I was working on finished! 12th in class 19 over all!
We broke three times each one costing us 1/2 hour.
1st time was around 11pm rignt side header broke.
We ripped it off ran to the truck TIGED it beack up got it back out.
2nd time early am left side header broke , TIGED it go it back out.
Then 2 hours to go CV Joint right side broke .
We replaced it in an amzing time of 25 min.
The Divers were amazing I ripped on them a bit before the race but,
Not one of them put a wheel off the whole time.
Paul and Johnny were running respectible times after thier 3rd stent.
George had the fastist time in the heat of the day at 1;50 then Wally
ripped off a mid 1'59 in the night.
Our fancy fuel rigg failed during the practice day. ( Leaked spraying fuel all over)
So we went back to the old one 51 Sec. and 22.5 gal of fuel.
It was hard to hold that "some bench" down after a while.
I liked it when Jonny Unser would come in , he would stop next to the wall
so I could put my feet on it and help me push the rig down.
The talented Enduro kart driver Pattie Hineric Showed Up to cheer us on.
I was able to pull her out of the crowd and into the Garage.
To show her around. She made my day.
Too bad she has a ride already.
I will post photos here shortley.
I got to chatting with Speed Channels Calven Fish he has driven a 250 twin
a few years back . I let him know that they were WAY better now
He is going to come out to Grattan on a Friday and test drive mine.
I hope you guys want to read this stuff.

Randy,
Yes, love hearing about it, I watched the whole of the broadcast on Saturday on the couch - had a cold!
Too bad about that fuel rig.
I was still living in England and racing a 250 Yamaha TD3 air cooled Zip GP when Calvin was running under the Martin Hines umbrella - he was pretty quick - never got to meet him though but really enjoy his input from the pit lane.
Look forward to your photos.
Thanks.
Anthony. |

Randee, I guess there wasn't a shortage of tires like last year? I was working for Speedcom/BSR last year at the 24hr... That was some nasty weather last year.

In The team photo its me on the right to my left is Wally Dallenbech sr. then jr then the rest of the (help)!
I did find out talking to the drivers that they have big respect for 250 shifty kart drivers. " you guys have bigger balls than us"
I think they freak out at no seat belts or roll bars.

| Randee, don't get Calvin's hopes up too high. I don't know about WAY better. Those of us who remember saw Calvin rip off a sub 2 minute lap in the Zip Hermetite Kart he was driving for Hines at Daytona over 20 years ago ('79/'80?) I've got pics of him and Hines in the garage somewhere. So now the quickesat guys run a 1:56. True that's hauling buggy but is 2 seconds in 20 years WAY better? |

Well George the 156 lap times were from Johnny an Me last year.
The BRC laydown or even the Anderson would have topped that .
The handling of the karts and the power is better....Ya I'd say WAY.
Calvin wants to do for the fun anyhow and He will tell us if its better or not.
He was excited about the prospect of doing it some more.
