While we're dreaming, what about this? Only 28mm stock carbs, (almost) stock porting and she made 130bhp. When it didn't break (which was rare), Ken could run with most anything on the strip. Only $3500 invested too! Oh yeah its a 2 stroke.

George, believe me, I do not wish for the 2 strokes to disapear, I raced them for many years and will again I'm sure. It is a reality about clean air acts and what the government will allow us to do. I know some the lakes up north here are 4 cycle only lakes, it's happening all over. Yamaha Banshee, there's a good example, they haven't change a nut or bolt on that thing in 15 years!!!

Guys, my argument isn't 2 cycle vs. 4 cycle, it's why should the 4 cycle be limited or not allowed. There's no reason why somebody couldn't or already have, spend way too much money on a 2 cycle and make it way too fast and way too unreliable. So there's nothing stopping the 2 stroke guy from getting out of hand, why should there be for the 4 cycle guy? That's all I'm saying.

Andy, if I run a diesel it needs to be 1000cc and turbo!!!

The enviro "argument " against racing two strokes is IMO invalid. First , air is cleaner than its ever been since the industrial revolution started. All the while we used "dirty" two strokes.

Also, I would bet one nascar race "pollutes" more than every kart combined in one year. 40 cars going 500 miles with 8 cylinders a piece. Thats 160,000 miles per cylinder, in one race. Those aren't two strokes and no one thinks to start talking about banning them. People drag race about a million races around the country. Point is that in the reality of recreational race use two strokes are a fraction of the bigger polluter picture.

Now issues such as boats is some what different. Boats have huge displacement engines and when exhausted into the water have less ability for natue to deal with the pollutants as opposed to the air. And there are thousands of more engines in use than race vehicles. And to boot, two strokes are becoming cleaner all the time. Actually , marine manufacturers are one of the last large industries still developing two stroke engines. Things such as High pressure direct injection have reduced emissions tremendously.

I've said it before. For the specific needs of karting. Light , compact ,simple design, ease of maintenance for average joes , price , and powerful. The two stroke is hard to beat.

Actually Chris, if you count the RDLC as a predecessor, not a darn thing has changed on the Banshee in 25 years. Guess thats why Yami keeps riding that high profit gravy train. Very Happy

But the aftermarketers haven't been asleep which proves there is still a healthy demand for 2 cycle performance. Anybody look at my turbo motor? Why would anyone want to mess with a $7000 gas gas when they can have 130 HP and 75 ft pounds torque for $3500? I love all karters but will never completely understand them. Hope it gets wamr fast. Last year's Feb Roebling Road race was 40 degrees and a lot of guys decided to bench race.
