I was just looking at a bunch of photos from the first event at Fontana a couple of years ago, and I was suprised by the number of Super Karts that were at the event. Hopefully those guys will wipe them off, air up the tires, and come out again this weekend for the kick off the the 2005 season.

If you are coming out, please take a moment and let the 250 crowd know.

Regards, J.R. Clasen

What about the rain Saturday and Sunday??????
Saw the forecast and there is a 80% chance on rain between the two days.

Will the event be cancelled if it rains both days?

I don't think we can drive on that track in the rain, correct??

As many are driving from far away please let us know the clubs policy about the rain and if the TR guys are in the same boat as us..

Thanks

I don't think they will race at Fontana and face the liability of the concrete walls. A little too dangerous at 140mph and loosing control.
There is little room for error at Fontana, even in the infield section where several drivers have hit the concrete before and been lucky to walk away.

Is it worth having one serious injury after the recent deaths in the karting community over the last year???

The rain question should be directed to SCK and Debbie Kuntze, as they are the one's in charge of the overall event.
I have seen the weather report as well, and it does not bode well for the event, but we need to just monitor those reports a little longer to see how things shape up before making a decision.

JR, I agree as well, what is WSK policy as far as racing the 250's in the rain at this facility?? Too dangerous???

If SCK let's the 100's race does the WSK part make their own policy??

Seems like if it rains it won't be a little sprinkle which will make it very difficult I think to race safely, hopefully we get a least one full day of dry weather but we need to plan ahead now..

WSK does race in the rain provided conditions permit, which means we take it on a track by track basis. Racing in the rain can be fun, but we will err to the side of safety.

Thanks, J.R.

Debbie usually follows this part of the forum pretty close, so she will more than likely jump in here pretty soon.

I'm here.

The rain question has been answered in the update section, but for ease:

SCK has an infield long course-quite different from what King Taco is should there be rain, and you would be well away from any concrete. But, the Fontana forcast (as of five minutes ago) is still calling for sun 57 degrees on Saturday and chance (20%) rain on Sunday late.

So keep getting ready.

Cool

I will be heading to Fontana, I am sure I have a set of rain tires somewhere that are probably as hard as a rock by now!

I will send a check to the Western Series today -- hopefully we will have good participation.

See you all at Fontana.
