I'm in favor of anything that helps promote the sport. As the representative of a company who has in the passed crossed the boundries of sanctioning bodies to assist many organizations in upgrading their event operations.....We at TCM Racing would be happy to assist in any way to make such an even happen.....and make the event truly successful as it has the potential to be!
Sincerely,
Tom Argy Jr.

For those who didn't attend the IKF meeting in Seattle:
The wavier was only reduced to $150.00, not deleted. 3 punches are still required to run a National. Due to flight times, I wasn't at the meeting to hear the 2 cycle committee recomendations, but road race definitely went towards aligning themselves for crossovers. Fixed pipes, weights, IC/E rules were clarified (should be easy to race/crossover IKF and JR's World Kart. Perhaps Deborah Harpur can jump in about the two cycle, once she goes over her notes and recovers from the trip (meetings were all VERY long).
For the most part, I felt the IKF board worked for what the racers wanted, listening to committee recommendations (the 4 cycle & Speedway passed while I was there). There were a few "snippy" remarks from the board, but I say everyone was cranky due to the lengths of the various meetings.

Questions:
Hopefully someone has the answers?
Steve Welk suggested a premier class. It's not any secret than many of the top pilots are driving shifterkarts these days. The question is: Will the IKF have a 125 ShifterKart class at the GN In Marshalltown? (Was thinking they would)
Deb Harpur had said that Kugler says, he would be in favor of a joint event after the GN Question: Does this mean the weekend following or directly after the event.
Deb Kuntze said waiver was reduced to $150, next said 3 punches are still reguired to run a national. Question: Can I/someone enter by paying $150 and not have run 3 IKF Regionals? (just a little confused sorry) |

It is my understanding that the IKF Shifternats are in Marshaltown kind of combined with the Sprint Grands.
However a true Sprint Grand National already exists for Shifters in Norman Ok, the US Shifter Nationals. It is a neutral organization event with about 200 entries from all over the country.
Given a choice between winning a SKUSA Pro-Moto, IKF Grand, WKA Grand, KART Grand, or USSN, we would definately choose USSN. |

I know that I am far south, but I am central and I already have a race scheduled for Labor day weekend. (Sorry Roger R.) My entry fee is $100 plus $10 per day pit pass. This includes a meal at a banquet dinner. I have a very eager sponsor that did a great job with me and my associates. We are planning an equally great response for 2002 as plans are already being ironed out. It would be only a greater accomplishment and a better turnout to do what is being talked about.
I would need help with tech inspectors but everything else should be taken care of.

I just don't understand this $300 Waiver Fee with IKF. What is the purpose of this fee?
I can understand a membership fee like WKA charges which is only $45.
It is great that IKF is having the Grand Nationals in Iowa, but this fee or a $150 fee is ridiculous. What do we get in return?? IKF will probably make a killing at the Grands because all of the WKAers will want to race against the California contigent, but I doubt many will at a ridiculous $300 fee.
IKF, I hope you make the right decisions! |

To race an IKF national, need 3 punches (race events, not 3 races) to NOT pay waiver fee. Must be IKF member and submit fee for waiver by 5/1 to run nationals. To get waiver, must not have had 3 IKF sanctioned events within 400 miles of your address, or other extinuating circumstances.
Waiver is to primarialy protect promotors in each region. Wanting people to support local clubs is the idea. Personally I would rather have the Duffy go to someone who actually raced the da-- class, to be champion of the class. I don't agree with buying Duffy's.

How can you be a Grand National Champion if you are limiting the entries. WKA sure doesn't. The more the merrier. BRING IT ON.
I bet if you asked the racers if they want to race against just themselves or all of the top guns in the country they would say all the top guns. |

Well, that is exactly what Deb Harpur and myself said at the IKF board meeting. Bring em on! |

Debbie:
Thank you. Do you know what the outcome of the IKF Board was on this topic.
Thanks

| Great idea Paul, It's been thouhgt of before, but you bring some interesting new ideas, run with it, I'd like to see some success in this area. Also like the way Elkhart handles the rules problem, might be a viable way to do it. |

| IKF retained the waiver requirement, but lowered it by half ($150). |

I hope IKF and WKA were listening to the NAKA-CART announcement. If IKF and WKA don't get off their butts and do a joint National Championship race together, someone else is going to do it for them. It is time to take kart racing to the next level, NOT let it become more fragmented. CART has the T.V. connections to get this thing done and IKF and WKA have the members and the promotional experiance. Why not work together? We,the karters, would all benefit and so would the organizations.
Karters want new challanges. They want a shot to win a National Championship Title. Something that is enduring. We just came back from the WKA Fall Nationals and there were barely 300 entries because most of the racers with no shot at the National Championship didn't come. They usually draw 450 entries to all the other races. |
