With the current rules that seem to change from series to series enough to annoy us wka, ikf, skusa, local etc. I would like to know how many people would defect from their current sanction body if cik/fia would establish themselves here. I am not up to speed with the fia/cik rules or how well we could adapt but just courious.

If the CIK/FIA could establish themselves in the U.S., I would definately race under their rules. From the outside, it seems as though their rules are fairly stable and not overly driven by manufacturer influence.

Every organization in the U.S. is constantly making new classes just becuase someone is not happy that they are not winning in the class they are in. In my opinion this leads to classes that are very thinned out (Why do we need Yamaha Pipe, SBX, Can, Formula Y?). It seems as though the CIK class stucture is very simple, and this leads to very full grids - not to mention spectacular racing.

I was lucky enough to attend the FSA World Championship race in Montreal this past June. What I saw at this event alone was enough to make me say that I would rather race with the CIK than the current U.S. organizations........

On the other hand, wouldn't that just be one more organization to further thin out the number of racers per class? Hmmmmmm......

Well, what happens is that the national organisations run things but under the auspices of the CIK, as the WKA either does or used to do. We have JICA, ICA, FA etc but we do also have lots of other classes so it probably wouldn't solve that particular problem. I wouldn't have it any other way though because I like there being a clear line of progression.

One word sums it up the most..ACCUS
They are FIA's authorized ASN here in the US and seem to have no interest in karting or keep it shelved. Not much structure to it if you compare it to other nations and their ASNs.

We run CIK/FIA in Canada. ASN Canada sets the national rules, and we have regions and clubs that can set further local rules that may be needed locally. It's not perfect, but works fairly well all things considered. We should all be reminded though that each club is only as good, and organized, as it's members. No sanctioning body will help if a clubs members won't work hard to put on a good event.

Karting in the US is driven more by the builder and manufactures then by the sanctioning bodies. This is not because we want to be different or that we are ignoring the international community. It has been a outgrowth of the sport in itself. While karting was used as a stepping stone and regulated in Europe, when karting started catching on here the FIA chose to ignore the fledging groups perfering to take the wait and see what happens approach. This as it was pout to me was two fold - didn't want to scare off new people to the sport and had their hands full in Europe.

Now that we are a strong karting country we are to engrained in our organizations to allow the CIK/FIA to set one set of rules that we all have to play by. This falls on the teams, drivers and manufactures across the board - myself being one that really doesn't see any vlaue in adapting there rules. Instead I would perfer to establish a Body simialr with memeber from all major sanctions bodies to stablize and standardize rules.

JMHO but if you changed to CIK.FIA you would leave lots of racers on the side of the road.
