Dick Hansen of Yamaha of America passed away at about 8:45 this morning.
Dick was mostly known in So. California and was one of the pioneers of karting. A great wealth of knowledge has been lost and I am fortunate to have learned most of what I know from him.
He was my friend.
The services will be on Thursday at 11am.

My son and I just started karting this year and without all Dick's help we'd still be trying to understand just the basic's.Everybody who spent time with him knew he had a heart of gold even if at first he didn't like anybody to see that. All my heartfelt condolences and support go out to Pat and his family , I will also miss him dearly.

I agree with you Rick, once you got past that tough exterior there was a wealth of knowledge that Dick would freely share with you. Dick and Pat was the mainstay of TRI-C Karters for many years putting in a ton of hours to keep it going. When I started doing the membership for the TRI-C Karters I spent several hours one day in the shop with Dick digging out a lot of old photographs, lists, old memorabilia of Adams’ Kart track, the people who raced there and the history of the Cal state championships. Yes the man has been part of karting for a long time and will be missed. Our thoughts are with his family.
