Looking to buy a new 80cc motor and the word on the street is that Yamaha has really done their homework with both the 125 and 80. I'm interested in the 80cc and here that it's "all that and a bag of chips!" Has anyone had a chance to open one up and take a look? Anyone had one on a dyno? There's been so much development work done on the CR80, would it be worth taking the gamble on the Yamaha? Thanks

Just be carefull guys, it may actually happen this time. But two years ago it was the Huskavarna that was coming to dominate (125). Last year it was the new and improve TM80 that was "the" motor to get.

Actually if you go back about 5 years ago on TKWS mail list, the debate was if it was going to be the Suzuki RM80 or the Yamaha 80 that would kick the CR80's because of case induction. Then the next year it was Kawaski becaue of the development work they were putting behind karting.

I just made the decision to go to Yamaha instead of Honda on my shifter motor. I race at the club level at it doesn't seem to be any faster or slower than the Honda's. However most engine builders have spent time with Honda's only. I had this one done by Forward Motion(Eric-Gorr.com) He seems to offer the most bang for the buck.We do plan on running some IKF region 11 stuff in 2002.
