First Big THANKS to the EKN for the new forum!!
Now for what motor ? I am running the new Sonik VX125 , I like like the way the motor works. It pulls hard out of the corners and rev's very well. I ran a BM Jag . motor last year and I like this better but I may be a bit bias on this subject.

Are there two Sonik motors? if so, which one is better? What about the IAME? Why wouldn't the Biland stomp everything? Anyone run the Saetta?I need to know these things. _________________ Howie Idelson

Way to go EKN
Nice to add this forum to the others and although I run a ROTAX, will check here for the opinions and (hopefully) GOOD INFORMATION on the various motors...
and the PLUSES & MINUSES to each... _________________ Scotty "TooTall" Nielsen

Last year I ran a ROTAX, I just started running a BM 120 Jaguar.
The power band on the BM is much smoother then the ROTAX.
The big differece is the RPM's.,17,000 on the BM vs 13,900 on the ROTAX,"what a sound!".WOOO
I am looking forword to the up coming season. |

Howie, Sonik only makes one 125 tag motor the VX 125. Sonik also makes a ICA, JRICA motor and is working on a Jr tag motor aswell.

Thanks EKN! I appreciate the new Forum.
Howie... I chose a Leopard. Support, parts, information all seem to be relatively available. Cost of parts and service is not too expensive. So far its been reliable without any problems. I think it will probably be middle of the road and not extreme on the bottom (Biland) or the top (Sonik). It seems to be pretty fast compared to the times I have seen at some of the tracks. But that is all subjective because I have not yet raced against the others under the same conditions.
Several things still unknown. The Sonik does have serious top end. However if the weights come out and the penalty is somewhat high, I don't know how it will stack up against the rest. I'll have to wait until the rules are finalized.
First few races will be very interesting. |

"Anyone run the Saetta?"
The rotary power (over 50 hp) of the Saetta could not be handicapped enough to be thrown in with the TaG's. So far we have been happy with the Easy125, Leopard and look forward to the new Rok. May the best motor win! _________________ Chuck McCue |

Chuck, Have you had the Saetta on a kart? I'd love to hear about it. Also what about the ROK do you think is going to make the motor to have. _________________ Howie Idelson

We're using the ROK also, I did some testing with the CRG factory when I was in Italy and the motor was quick. Our driver was running some very fast times for that particular track. There has been a slight modification to the exhaust pipe which has added some performance to the engine over last year. However you can modify last years pipe to the new spec so you dont have to worry if you have last years engine.

If your pipe measures out to 835cm from the end that goes to the header to the other end where the silencer u bend mounts then remove 3 cm from the flange that goes over the header.

Steve

all the motors have there good points but i think sone of the biggest deciding factors for some people is the weights of the class for any particular motor.
the tag usa rules are just plain incomplete. all the motors arent fully spec'd as to what stock is
what carb is oem on a sonik comer and ital??
what air box is oem for them? what is the min cc for some of the engines? you couldnt do tech from the i saw
i guaranty the weights will change once the engines are tested fully
so for a guy that weighs 150 he would never want an engine that you would need to weigh in at 390 and the same for the opposite situation _________________ Charles Pistorio
