If someone were to open a new sprint track, roughly 1/2-3/4 mile in the orange county area, who would come. The idea to start up a track has been considerd a lot by my family. The idea is to come up with a track kind of like ovrp but more pit space . Want to have a nice track with nice facilities. But the most important thing is, who would come? Would anybody one the eastcoast come to a track in NC. Maybe we could start to recruit some people from the enduro and circle track.
Heres the idea of the track.
1. 1/2-3/4 mile asphault
2. elevation change and a carasel in the woods.
3. Pits could be either covered or some in a wooded area. camping on site
4. kart storage at track
5. Track shop
6. Eat inside restraunt
7. Track rentals
8. right next to orange county speedways (kart and car)
9. Pits space for around 400-500 trailers
10. TV coverage

So, who would come?

Very tough to say. When I return to the USA in a year or so and if I happen to end up in the NC area then I would be more than happy to race at such a track. The problem will be finding sprint racers (who turn right as well as left) in the NC area.

This would certainly take marketing because you would be working against NC racing grain so to speak. In my honest opinion, you would do best to hook yourself up with a known racing entity in the area and see if that could bring participants. Check membership rolls and market to local race/hotrod and sportscar clubs -- SCCA, Porsche club, etc... Psychographically, these would be the people who would be most likely to jump into sprint karting.

This seems to be a steep uphill challenge in your area, however. One thing that tracks here do to attract people and $$ is that they run a rental car concession with relatively fast karts...with this they put on race events from time to time. That seems to bring people in and at least pay some of the bills.
